Trans tag request
It is hard enough finding trans representation in our daily lives. With the LGBTQIA+ tag, one still needs to browse through channels and spend time in them to find trans streamers. A "trans" tag would help people searching for these communities.
Today we are rolling out 350+ tags, including the transgender tag, to provide you with more options on how you express yourself and your content, so that you can more easily connect with one another and build wonderful communities. We are really appreciative for all of the feedback around this topic (and other related suggestions).
We previously told you that we had a better solution to this request than adding the tag, and we were wrong. This has been one of the most popular requests we’ve heard, and the simple truth is that we should have done this sooner. In an effort to think carefully about how to best address this, we only made the situation more difficult. Again, thank you for helping us throughout this process in reevaluating our stance.
Please continue to share ideas and feedback you have to UserVoice, as well as any suggestions for additional tags you feel we may have missed! We are working to invest more into this forum and aim to have faster communications in the future.
Please check out our blog post for more info: https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/05/26/celebrate-yourself-and-your-community-with-350-new-tags/

As promised – just checking in to let you all know that we haven’t forgotten you./me (in italics and not in color) rolls eyes.

I'd like to see this, but then I'd also like to see ****** attraction and gender identity seperated a little more everywhere.

I have only found 1 trans streamer and it was hard to find

If you had another system in mind It's loooong overdue. And now we aren't the only minority group you are Blatantly ignoring. There are active requests for both a Disabled tag and a Black tag, Both of which are being just as Flagrantly ignored as this one. This isn't just Twitch ignoring one minority group. They are 100% in the CIS white category and everyone else is garbage to them.

It looks like Twitch has forgotten this as a priority, and focused their attention on removing /me chat colors.

We need a trans and a disabled tag so we are able to find people we align with to feel safer in the community. Y’all have refused in the past because “we would get harassed “ don’t y’all see that we get harassed regardless, and it would be better to be amongst people who understand instead of fighting alone. Please. Trans tag. Disability tag.

As promised - you've still delivered nothing regarding this topic while implementing useless changes like removing the color from /me. #TransTagNOW

Trans voices shouldn't be so hard to come across in the LGBTQ tag but yet they are. We need this not only for Trans People but for all marginalized groups. Weather it be our POC brothers and sisters or our disabled brothers and sister. All voices should be heard and when looking for them on twitch it shouldn't be as hard as it is!

@RealJoeSlice How will this result in emotional and societal harm for Trans* people? This tag isn't exclusionary, and if you can't see that, then I'm sorry that you as thick as a double ditch.
What's the point in tags if they limit what you can tag? League of Legends has a tag for every single champion in the game, why is that needed but community tags aren't?

The point of tags is to take specific traits and interests of the streamer so people can find a community that better suits them. No one, is excluded from coming to a stream with a trans tag. It just makes it easier to become a part of a community that fully accepts trans people. Cause someone would be certain that anyone watching (other than harassers which could easily be modded by the streamer or mods) and the streamer are accepting of trans people. If you still find that discriminatory, I think you should look inward.

RealJoeSlice This isn’t discriminatory at all unless you think using the LGBT tag is discriminatory as straight people can’t use it. The tag is simply a way to make it easier for trans people to find people they can trust and identify with. It’s even a good way for possible cis people to find trans streamers who may be ok with talking about this and finding out if they are trans or not themselves. Trans people are an insanely small part of the LGBT on twitch and in the world. This is only a way to make it easier to find us. There are so many tags that not everyone can use, like the K-pop tag, not everyone likes K-pop, are they being discriminated against?

lol ... RealJoeSlice ... when you try to troll, at least put some effort in. "Rash decision" "making a decision this quick" .... really. This topic has been up for over 2 years now.
As for "no benefits", if you'd read the comments as you suggest (I've read all of them by the way) you'll see heaps of benefits. Now you may not agree these are benefits, but that's on you, not on us. -
RealJoeSlice commented
Read some of these comments. People DEMANDING this and saying that otherwise it's suppression of trans people.
Have you considered that twitch won't make a rash decision over something that has no realistic benefits?
-
RealJoeSlice commented
Having a tag that ONLY trans people can use is discriminatory. Next, we'll have to solve the issues of people trolling and targeting the people with the trans tag. After that, all the other minority neuro-specific communities will ask for a tag that ONLY THEY can use.
No. And No. And No.Twitch won't respond to you but that's why ^
It'd be nice if someone addressed these issues (and thoroughly) before making a suggestion such as this.
Making decisions of this magnitude this quick can result not only in Emotional and Societal harm for trans people but also economic, same thing being applied to twitch.
I'm sure they would LOVE to be more inclusive but you don't attend inclusivity by excluding everyone else. -

So many twitch communities are so welcoming and loving, the Trans tag will allow us to be more inclusive of all of our friends and family! <3
