  1. It's been a few weeks since Twitch changed how stream quality auto changes based on whether the tab is in the current tab/window or not. This change automatically lowers the quality of streams to 480p (or lower) for streams not in the current tab, and when the stream is tabbed back into focus it does not always resume the originally selected quality.

This is affecting multiple browsers, with or without extensions, so this is seems very much a Twitch end feature to lower data use.
This change however has resulted in some issues:
    -More buffering
    -Streams hanging/pausing when tabbed out…

  2. Hi!
I'm a small streamer from EU speaking english only. This means my viewers are from many different countries and sadly some countries have poor internet.
I've had many complains in my chat about the lack of options for video-quality, since it is laggy and loading alot for my viewers with poor internet performance.

My suggestion is that atleast ONE low-quality option should be available beside the source-quality. This would satisfy many viewers and also make it easier/more optimal to keep the viewers at the channel of a small streamer.
What happens is that the viewer will simply go to…

  3. When watching any stream, the video is always scaled by an arbitrary amount - on my browser in a maximized window, streams display at 1340x754 as can be seen in Video Stats.

When watching a stream with fine details, particularly games with pixel graphics, this slight amount of scaling causes blur and loss of detail/sharp edges.

It's possible to pop out the player and resize it as you see fit, but it would be much more convenient to have an option to keep the player on the page without scaling it.

  4. You could consider separating the video quality settings from audio quality settings, since audio quality is far more important than video for some content.
There are Music and Performance streams and such where we're interested in listening to the sound more that looking at text / faces / fine details.

    • New show hosts frequently receive advice to invest in buying better audio equipment to improve audio quality before looking to buy more expensive cameras. This is because people will tolerate bad video in a show much more than bad audio (although 160p is still kinda bad).

    • I've listened to several…

  5. Additionally, it should NEVER choose any other quality than the last selected. It is utterly annoying having to change quality, reload the page and then make sure the quality doesn't change on it's own, before getting to watch streams.

  9. Playing streams at 60fps leads to lots of short buffers and regular intrerruptions. Having an option to play 60fps streams at 30fps regardless of whether the streamer only offers the source, should be a feature.

  10. Your video player spikes my cpu useage every few seconds while desktop is idle. I have an i5 9600k and that should be more than enough. Browsers already have a use hardware acceleration where available option. You could default yours to hw acc off if you wanted to, but please give us the option to be able to change this setting or let the browser setting switch it. Thank you.

  11. Affiliates need quality options as a staple.
As a trade-off, Only partners can stream at 1080p

Limit affiliates to 720p30 this will lighten the load on the overall bandwidth needed, allow more people to watch when they live in poor speed zones, it will also add a nice little perk for partners.

As an affiliate, I just started and stoped the stream until I got the options..
I would have been happy with 720p30

  13. When tabbing out, there is a "feature" to reduce resolution, but causes the stream to stutter, pause, and skip around when coming back to normal when the video is tabbed out, or in the background. Please allow us to turn off this "feature" tabbing out to do moderation, or check on something then missing something that happened, like an alert, or action in the game is a terrible "feature" when the stream tries to catch up.

  14. Currently Low Latency mode supports Chrome and Firefox on desktop, which are two of the top three most popular web browsers.

This idea is to propose expanding this capability to a wider array of browsers, namely beginning with Chromium based web browsers e.g. Brave, Microsoft Edge, Vivaldi etc. since these already have close compatibility with the existing Chrome framework. As well as additional large market share browsers such as Safari and Opera.

  15. Not sure why but i see a big differance on CPU usage from the www.twitch.tv and player.twitch.tv

The www.twitch.tv is from 20% to 40%. Jumps all the time.

player.twitch.tv: 10% to 15%. Much of the time is 10%

  16. Allow us to set the buffer on a per stream basis, say to 6.33s. The video player would slightly speed up or slow down to compensate. Since the buffer fluctuates constantly, maybe over a 5 second average.

This would be useful mainly for syncing multiple streams and keeping them in sync.

I know this is already possible and very straight forward since the player already speeds up high delay streams. It simply needs to read the current buffer and adjust accordingly.

This is such an easy thing to implement and would reduce the frustration of out of sync streams completely.

  17. it would be nice if I could turn the resolution of the Clipping tool down. Right now, it is lagging because it is on 1080p and my Laptop is not the best. This would make that the Tool also runs smoothly for weak Laptops and PCs. The final uploaded clip will be in full resolution.

  18. After a network disruption from another bandwidth-intensive application,(s) please allow the error #2000 message to retain the video's progress via cookie when logged-out.

I have concerns about open sessions of my accounts on multiple domains where my active sessions are not displayed and able to be manually closed. (Google, Twitter, Instagram, and Microsoft all display active session history)

    Thank you for your consideration.

  20. Some of my videos work just fine on a rerun but some (including one of our best gaming experiences ever!) start to rerun but audio becomes separated from video and the rerun just stops at a specific point during the rerun.

The VOD itself for the selected video is fine, without the above issues experienced during a rerun.

I've downloaded and uploaded the VOD but this has not fixed the issue when re-running.

Is anybody else experiencing this problem and to the Devs, is there a fix?
