Just wanted to update this thread that we are doing an experiment right now with Stream Display Ads! These are less disruptive ads that allow viewers to see and hear Creators while being displayed. i can't imagine why they'd rather these ugly AI generated ones rather than the ones they had before... that literally looked better??? why change what isn't broke??? ESPECIALLY FOR AI GENERATED IMAGES??? i'm just baffled.

So disrespectful to force streamers to scramble just so they don't lose out on their content. Even if Twitch went back on this, people are already deleting highlights to make space for new ones, because they *have to*, it is NOT OPTIONAL. You can't fix that damage. The highlights, they're gone off Twitch. Forever.

bumping something i heard someone on bsky say that i got a hoot out of: if only 0.5% use this, surely twitch can just afford to pay it off if it's so little people?? why risk making them go to youtube, your competitor, over what you guys seem to think is a small, negligible amount of people? it's just 0.5%. a small amount. what gives?
i think they realize 0.5% is a lot. they're just BS'ing twitch users so they can penny pinch. despicable.
either 0.5% is a lot and they're being dishonest, or it's a little and they're making a big deal out of nothing just so they can save a bit of money at the expense of creators. either way, they're really showing themselves with this decision

literally there were so many more ways to go about this, but they chose the worst way to go about it that literally *only* benefits twitch. -_- if they were so pressed for cash (which i doubt, but for argument's sake) they could've just made it into a subscription. but they *still* didn't do that. why?

the only reason this change is going through is to save money, which ironically is going to turn many creators away and have them go to their competitor, youtube, which will lose them money. this is a change that clearly isn't thought out well, and is to save money in the short term and lose out in the long term. they'd make more money keeping their creators here and making highlights profitable.

blindsiding people with a 2 month timer (basically) to move or lose everything is evil. people have been gathering highlights for YEARS and you're only giving 2 months to transfer everything?

it's so horrible that they choose a little bit more money over a feature that so many people use and enjoy. i hope they change their mind, but we will never forgive them for trying this in the first place, especially since they're blindsiding us with it and are trying to implement it in only two months without gauging interest or how it'll hurt/affect users first. this idea is purely selfish of them to do.
