selling and buying subs with channel points
A marketplace where people can sell gifted subs to a creator for channel points, the watchers win, the creator wins and twitch wins. The value would be purely based on how much someone wants to sell their gifted sub for and how much someone willing to pay for it. People will have more incentive to gift subs and long time watchers that aren't going to buy a sub for one reason or another will have an opportunity. I could see a system where the gifter could set a solid price or maybe even a bidding system, as it is still a "gifted sub" if nobody buys it after a time limit it would just be gifted as usual. I believe the pros out way the concerns but I will list a few problems starting with specific regions and their policies targeting anything that resembles gambling, while channel points already exist they would gain a sense of monetary value. It would reduce the amount of people gifting for "free" and as a result less new viewer will get gifted potentially reducing the amount of newbies sticking around. In my personally experience getting gifted a sub to a streamer who's content didn't grab my attention didn't cause me to stick around, it only took a gifted sub away from regular watchers. Twitch would gain from ghost watchers not really paying attention and trying to farm channel points and getting hit by ads which might counter balance the regular viewers that don't buy subs but have a lot of channel points, all when the total sub count goes up. All in all if this feature was able to be implemented I see it not just positively affecting the viewers experience but the creators and twitch's pocketbooks as well.
