IGDB

How it works:
  • Choose a relevant category for your idea and check to see if any other users have already submitted this suggestion before creating your own
  • Be clear with your suggestion, provide examples and solutions to the problem you are posing. Suggestions without actionable feedback may be closed without comment
  • Upvote existing ideas, as opposed to creating multiple similar requests
  • Be sure to share your suggestion with others to gain more support!
  • Note: Suggestions are not guarantees that we will take action on an idea. We will try our best to communicate why an idea may not work, but may not always be able to share that information.
  • Titles that are unclear or unnecessarily vulgar may be reworded to better reflect the request for ease of discovery

If you need help:
This forum is for ideas only. If you need help, please check out our help portal for tons of articles that may answer your questions. If you still need help, you can reach out to our support team in the help portal as well!

Appeals or commentary on suspension decisions, support requests, suggestions disparaging others, and non-constructive feedback will be closed without comment.

  2. If you look currently at categories there is a crypto category where you can see a lot of people doing TA / showing charts, and you can see some people playing web3 games.

It would be good idea to separate these 2 since not all web3 games are getting accepted and there is a lot of people that either want to play only web3 games or they don't want to play web3 games at all. Would be cool to see this added :) Thanks

    Best Regards,
    Zeljko

  3. I have several pending edits and contributions from two weeks ago, and I’ve read on Reddit that it’s because Twitch has laid off quite a few people from IGDB, which is why they’re swamped with work.

  4. Hi,

I'm using Twitch for music production live mostly so I use the "Music" category all the time and as a primary category now it's a bit bland so I'm submitting a cover art for the "Music" category :

    https://images.igdb.com/igdb/image/upload/t_original/co8gws.png

Also, I've tried to make a new IGDB page for "Logic Pro X" program as a game. Music is an art but also some kind of ludic hobby for most people so imo it could be defined as a sandbox text game don't you think ?

    https://www.igdb.com/games/logic-pro-x#about

If not I'm also submitting the creation of "Software" category where Logic Pro…

  5. In "Your Changes/Contributions", if you have re-edited the same entry multiple times, be it for corrections or to add additional data prior to Approval, you will see multiple posts for the same entry. This can overload the page with alot of duplicates that don't really change points from each or vary the points awards after Approval.

It would probably be more appropriate if these duplicates were just merged into a single entry.

  6. Please allow us to comment on changes after they have been discarded. There is no way to know whether there is a need to argue your case in the first place since the admins' willingness to accept new games wildly varies. It takes a lot of time to add them and sometimes they get discarded despite having a valid reason to exist. For instance, I recently added all three 16-bit remakes of Mega Man 1-3 included in Mega Man: The Wily Wars, all fo which have been rejected with the reasoning "they are already catalogued in the bundle". However, there…

  7. Some games share additional content such as DLC, Expansions, Packs/Addons, Updates, Seasons, and Mods with ports of their game or sequels. While this would be a limited specific use case it will allow content pages to be shared between titles and limiting duplicates.

A great example is Minecraft. The latest update for Minecraft, the 1.19 Wild Update appears twice on IGDB. Once for the original Minecraft: Java Edition and another for the port Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. These two pages contain the same content and there isn't much of a reason for it to be separate.

    Java: https://www.igdb.com/games/minecraft-the-wild-update
    Bedrock: https://www.igdb.com/games/minecraft-the-wild-update--1

  8. A new game type "Expanded Bundle. I have run into a couple of situations now where a game bundles a couple of older games within it's new release. Right now they usually sit as a main game, since the new content falls under a new game, but adding this would allow us to link the bundled games additionally to reduce confusion.

  9. I think one of the sections that need the most contribution, especially in terms of time, is the credits. Having to type each name and title into the given boxes takes quite a lot of time and can be a deterrent.

Since for most games the information is already out there, being able to copy and paste the information into a standard format (maybe word, excel etc.) and then import that into IGDB would really help.

Also, being able to edit them even after the changes have been accepted so people can add different languages/voice actors.

    Might also be worth…

  10. Big Fish Games is easily one of the biggest hubs for PC and Mac games. When I don’t find a hidden object or mystery game on Steam I go straight for BFG.

In fact, I often go to BFG first now instead of Steam. To me that indicates BFG is big enough to have a Store Link.

Adding BFG to the Store Link section would also allow, in the Social Link section under Official Website, the developer’s official website to be added.

  11. When an edit gets rejected, the admins close the edit's comment thread immediately. This is very unproductive, as it does not let the editor pitch their case for why the edit should be made, which leads to misunderstandings. Since there is no way to debate with a rejected verdict, admins should allow the editor to respond in the comment thread instead of immediately locking it.

  12. Can you rename the Jump King category back to Jump King, it's actual name? Someone has named it "tactical leaping adventure - there is a smoking hot babe at the top" Why someone decided to change the name of a category that has stood for 6 years to something utterly stupid and not what it's actual name is is beyond me but the whole community thinks it's stupid, also very long and awkward. Thank you.

  13. From what I understand and experienced getting your changes approved on IGDB can take anywhere between 4 to 14 days, not longer. It would be good if there was a page that showed a list of changes currently waiting for approval from IGDB Admin so you could see where your changes were in the pipeline. I saw on the Discord that an announcement said that a week ago or so the oldest changes to be approved were about 14 days old. Keeping this list in public gives us an estimate on when our edits will be reviewed.

  14. There are two suggestions over here, the first one is fixing the Crypto Category, it only has got the coins logos, but the description is completely wrong, which should be fixed.

Second thing is that it would be good if Twitch use Crypto as payment methods, less fees, available in more countries. I believe that the platform will generate larger income.

  15. So at the moment Wikia/Fandom is taking a lot of bad coverage due to being a toxic platform, housing a ton of ads, introducing AI and converting the website more into a social media hub than a wiki. With this, wikis are moving away from the platform either to start there own domains (like https://minecraft.wiki/) or switching to Wiki.gg as a web-hosting platform.

Would it be possible to change the Wikia logo to a generalized wiki logo instead?

    Hello!

Thank you for raising this, we've been discussing with our community on Discord as well that have raised similar concerns.

We're looking at expanding our coverage of wiki beyond specifically wikia or fandom.

We're currently researching to update our guidelines, and changes on the site (logos, wording) will be reflected accordingly.

    Thanks!

  16. If you make a version, or port of the game, the majortiy of things like categorization, series, cover are likely to be the same. It actually deters people from creating new versions by not providing a function like this as a template

  18. At times editors can realize an important bit of information was missed or forgotten after selecting Update Game. If the editor selects Edit again before their previous update has been approved. Several parts of the update appear to inconsistently display the recently entered data, while others do not. Many of these edits also will not change, even if re-edited prior to an Approval being confirmed by Admins.

    Examples:
    - Franchises do not save
    - Removing Platforms from various Release Dates, Companies and Age Ratings do not save
    - Removed Companies continue to display
    - Previously added Multiplayer Modes do not…

  19. Create a "Software" category for all kinds of software. Like the games category, you can publish preview images, videos, cover art, descriptions, etc. (basically, everything like the games category), but it will contain programs like Steam, Discord, Adobe programs, Krita, Aseprite, and others. There's already a game engines category, but sometimes it includes programs that don't fit that category. I think it would be interesting to create such a category.

  20. The edit game page has several tabs. The tabs even have their anchors, e.g. https://www.igdb.com/games/thief-ii-the-metal-age/edit#categorization
I would like to link directly to some tab but when I open the URL on a new page, it jumps to a hidden part of the page instead of selecting the correct tab.
