Unlock each emote as the level is beaten rather than the highest emote from the train.
Right now if you complete a level 100 Hype Train you will only get KappaInfinite instead of getting BleedPurpleHD, HeyHeyGuys, and PogChomp as well. This leads viewers to feel like they are ripped off because this generally isn't how game progression works.
When we beat a level we expect a reward from that level to be unlocked. We do not expect that reward to be overwritten by a higher level forcing us to have to do it again to unlock the lower tier reward. This is a normal tenet of game design and should apply to Hype Train rewards as well.

This is Cringe.
PirateSoftware's interpretation of how Emotes are earned should be the standard. -

If you think about it, that means we have to get to a certain level, and then stop, why wouldn't you want to keep going? Emotes apparently

Absolutely agree with this. I participated in the HypeTrain and honestly expected to be given the emotes for all of the previous levels, not only the highest level at the end. This is a very normal things to expect when you give progressive rewards.

I can understanding giving a user only one of a top level's emotes for low-level hype trains, as the odds are higher that another train will reach the levels in between. That is, there will be lots of Level 1 hype trains, relatively many Level 5 hype trains, and a good few Level 10 hype trains. If I reach a lvl 5, I will probably reach a lvl 3 in the not-too-distant future.
However, after a certain point -- preferably backed by Twitch's own distribution data on how many trains reach each level -- every emote at every break point to that level should be unlocked. I was lucky to participate in the Lvl 106 hype train, but the odds of me also reaching a lvl 50 hype train AND a lvl 75 hype train (plus whatever other emotes I have not been granted) are minuscule.

So if we get to Lv100+ and we only supposed to get 1 emote? That's bogus. If we work and spend our way up to that we should get ALL the emotes that are awarded for the previous tiers.

Participating in a hype train is entertaining and can feel rewarding in most cases.
What we have occurring here are viewers participating in a world record setting hype train and essentially only their final participation is being rewarded. That leaves people less inclined to participate along the way and want to provide less. That is not the feeling viewers should be left with in the end.
Now, the skew here is that viewers participate because they want the emotes so they should only be rewarded for that cause in the end. This is simply not the view the system should have as it alienates the viewer base and reduces participation drive. The typical users want to support the streamer, in this case, why deny them the rewards of support throughout the hype train?
This makes a viewer feel like this: 'Hey congrats on participating the whole race, we are only going to reward you for how the team ran during the last mile. Here is a portion of the prize you should have received. Try again and hope others don't run further next time as you won't qualify for the rest of the reward then either.'
That would leave anyone feeling put off and under appreciated. Please consider changing the policy on rewards for hype trains.Thank you for your hard work!

As a user who would only casually view the stream from this broadcaster, I was only made aware of this record breaking Hype Train when I was gifted a sub. It turns out that tens of thousands of subs had already been gifted, and I was blown away by the generosity (and might I say, kind ferocity) of the many viewers that were pushing the train further and further. I was inspired to join in, in some small way, by gifting a few subs to some of my favorite other creators, in both a show of solidarity, and a minor effort to increase the general hype for those creators and their communities. It felt like a quasi - Super Bowl of Twitch, and I know of dozens of users who gathered in voice chats while we watched an historic event unfold.
Once the dust settled, we were waiting for the emote rewards, and slowly but surely, some of them did roll in. I was given 2 emotes, and I held my customer support tickets, thinking that the other milestone emotes would simply roll in once Twitch support managed to batch them in. Unfortunately, I ended up with only 2 of the 4 original milestone emotes, as well as the bonus emote that was created specifically in honor of this event. I was somewhat expecting either all of the milestone emotes, or potentially even all of them plus one of the random emotes given out during a normal hype train, for a total of 6.
While I was, and am still, very happy about being able to witness such an event, the uneven (and in my opinion, underwhelming) method of granting only the higher level milestone emotes in such a grand event leaves a bit of a hollow feeling. I can understand limiting the number of rewards in a Hype Train, but the communication about these milestone emotes gave off the impression that they were cumulative, not exclusive. I hope that this can be made to function more in line with serving the appropriate amount of "hype" in such hype trains.

This! especially feels bad bc some people got all 5 emotes on the record hype train, and some of us only got 3 or even less and are being told that we aren't supposed to get all of them. It's not fair if we were all there and contributed to the same train. If there was a glitch where some ppl got all of them, then all of us should have gotten them. IMO this shouldn't have been an issue though, and I agree with all of this. If you a reach a top level, you should get all the emotes for the levels achieved below. Otherwise it makes me feel less interested in participating in hype trains anymore.

I was a part of the record Hyptrain, it was an exciting, internal community event. We understand it is profitable for Twitch and the streamer we support. In showing our support for both platform and individual, it feels appropriately rewarding to achieve all the rewards for going above and beyond as a community. If it were not to operate this way, it would feel disheartening and take the preverbal ‘wind out of the sails.’

Being a part of the multiple hype trains at level 50 or above it does take quite the effort and planning to achieve. Streamers would then be incentivized to turn off normal hype trains and coordinate "goal days" so their viewers get one emote. This will compound the more and more emotes that are added at higher levels.

I understand, the need for incentivization on spending bits, subs, etc... to help both the platform and our content creator. However, with the current system, I feel like we are being punished for reaching higher levels, rather than being rewarded. Perhaps a revisit on the mechanic of the hype train might be worth a look.

Feels like we’re being a bit cheated by only receiving the highest emote of the Hype train. I was exceptionally ecstatic for the BleedPurpleHD emote… recognizing that I didn’t receive the emote was both shocking and disappointing. The game reward analogy is a very accurate example of how it felt once recognizing how the current system works. I’d appreciate a change to this system. Thank you for listening to the twitch community on this matter!

I have been saving money on the side for the Hype train on PirateSoftware's/Thor's stream. Not getting full rewards for contributing to this important moment feels unfair. I don't think there will be a second chance for me to get all these emotes since it's not something that happens often, and I most likely won't put money on the side for this kind of system. I agree with Thor's point of view on this matter.

I agree that it should have been evident that the emote should be unlocked after each milestone level is achieved and not be overridden with the higher milestone. When I noticed that other community members did not unlock all the emotes, I did not receive all the emotes that should have been given when unlocking Level 100 and above. I felt bad about not receiving all of the emotes, as did other community members who did not receive at least KappaInfinite, because they did not send out the sub/resub notification.

I concur that unlocking the emotes as a hype train increases makes more sense than whatever it finishes on, feels like robbery the otherwise.

As a Veiwer of the channel, this had led me to be confused about unlocking emotes. this makes me feel left out on the hype train. reason for the confusion; the people who have unlocked other emotes, made me think other Hype trains had specific time limits for those emotes only. There will be times, where I can't be veiwing the streams due to home and work related acivities. This could potentially lead me to miss out on cool stuff this channel makes. I understand that this is a first time level 100, so things can go unforseen untill it happens. I hope this is constructive and have a nice day.
Kind regards

as one of the participants in the world record hype train on the 1st of April 2024, it felt wrong that I only got PogChomp, KappaInfinite, and DidIBreakIt but not BleedPurpleHD and HeyHeyGuys.
I contacted Twitch Support and was told to wait for 7 days since it's a known issue. Some participants were told it's normal not to receive them all. If this is intended as this post describes then I agree it should be changed.
It feels bad and seems like incentivizing users to repeatedly be part of hype trains so they get all the emotes while disincentivizing to reach level 100 after reaching it once before.

I agree with this, for instance if the streamer mentions that prime subs count to the train at train level 75 with twitch prime. So you sub and don't get the level 10 and level 25 and level 50 emote it feels a bit weird that you don't get the earlier emotes.
