As a user who would only casually view the stream from this broadcaster, I was only made aware of this record breaking Hype Train when I was gifted a sub. It turns out that tens of thousands of subs had already been gifted, and I was blown away by the generosity (and might I say, kind ferocity) of the many viewers that were pushing the train further and further. I was inspired to join in, in some small way, by gifting a few subs to some of my favorite other creators, in both a show of solidarity, and a minor effort to increase the general hype for those creators and their communities. It felt like a quasi - Super Bowl of Twitch, and I know of dozens of users who gathered in voice chats while we watched an historic event unfold.
Once the dust settled, we were waiting for the emote rewards, and slowly but surely, some of them did roll in. I was given 2 emotes, and I held my customer support tickets, thinking that the other milestone emotes would simply roll in once Twitch support managed to batch them in. Unfortunately, I ended up with only 2 of the 4 original milestone emotes, as well as the bonus emote that was created specifically in honor of this event. I was somewhat expecting either all of the milestone emotes, or potentially even all of them plus one of the random emotes given out during a normal hype train, for a total of 6.
While I was, and am still, very happy about being able to witness such an event, the uneven (and in my opinion, underwhelming) method of granting only the higher level milestone emotes in such a grand event leaves a bit of a hollow feeling. I can understand limiting the number of rewards in a Hype Train, but the communication about these milestone emotes gave off the impression that they were cumulative, not exclusive. I hope that this can be made to function more in line with serving the appropriate amount of "hype" in such hype trains.
