Provide closed captioning for ALL channels, not just affiliate and partner
I like the previously posted idea, but no accessibility features should ever be locked as rewards behind achievements. Folks shouldn’t need to be affiliated or partners to provide captioning to their audiences.

Yes, I agreed with this! Twitch needs improvement to help with disabilities. For this reason, I have deaf friends. They want to see closed captioning on all broadcasters. They do not like extensions because extensions won't appear on all hosts. For example, closed captioning allows users to switch off or on while they are deaf, hard of hearing, or are not hearing impaired. Do not neglect this important. I would like to give you feedback for supporting your Twitch company. Deaf people would like it and then be thankful to you.

Yes, we must think on people who has some disability and if you want to watch it but you can't listen for some reason (if you're in a public place)

I struggle to find twitchers who ACTUALLY caption their streams. This suggestion would save me so much stress

This! If independent creators can make sound tools (re: extensions) to provide closed captioning for users, there is no excuse for Twitch being able to do so for ALL users, not just those in affiliate/partner programs.

I am baffled as to why this is not a part of Twitch already.

Hello to everyone,
It would be nice to add subtitles with automatic translation to live broadcasts for viewers who are deaf or have no headphones on. -

To think that this software has existed for decades for live television broadcasting but a simple modern site like Twitch still doesn't have it? outrageous.

Why are we making it so much harder to make streams accessible to more viewers? Integrated, well made CC provide accessibility and will help grow communities and streamers. A no-brainer, honestly.

This is mandatory. No excuses.

Twitch does not have a properly closed caption on its platform. Many streamers have to use a 3rd party integration to put a closed caption on their platform. This can be great but not everyone can do this. Having a proper closed caption system that doesn't require this is long overdue and something Twitch needs to work on or work with accessibility experts/consultants to make this possible. It's time to make Twitch accessible for everyone.

As someone that is hard of hearing, this would make it possible for me to follow my favorite streamers not only when they release new videos on youtube, but also live on twitch.

Hallo,
wäre echt super wenn ihr automatische erzeugende Untertitel hinzfügen könnt- Vorallem für die gehörlosen Menschen.

I wasn't aware there were closed captions through twitch. As far as I know, there isn't a pay wall or achievement wall, they just straight up don't have them. I had to add mine as an extension through OBS.
They should just be a part of the platform for everyone, absolutely, I just want to clarify that twitch doesn't offer the captions through their site. It's all third party, so anyone can have them!

This is unfair to viewers that have a hard time hearing audio. Simple automated closed captioning helps increase streamers audience base. It also helps users that need additional accommodations to interact with the Twitch platform.

I believe as a user of twitch. Everyone should enjoy the joy, happiness of watching & laughing along with streams and the streamer. Even for the hearing impaired, Auto generated captions should be apart of Twitch's accessibility for every streamer regardless of twitch status! It hurts to know that people who are hearing disabled can't enjoy a great stream like a non-disabled person can. I wish and hope Twitch can make Auto generated captions on all devices for the hearing impaired cuz it would be a blessing to them to know we would love to have them apart of our streams feeling loved & included.

With more and more people coming to sites like Twitch to view gaming, you are also attracting individuals who might not be able to enjoy the full experience. Lately, I have been encountering more and more deaf individuals that are moving FROM Twitch to YOUTUBE because there aren't closed/open captions. I know this is an extension that the streamers have to install and enable, but this is not consistent across the board. Youtube incorporates this in every video and has been successful to them. Whether this feature is needed by every viewer or not, this is something that is somewhat discriminatory towards individuals hard of hearing and incorporating this into every page could make your platform more appealing towards individuals who cannot HEAR the streamer.

Captions should be a universal function, not a plugin or extension left to the streamer's choice. Do better.

Absolutely this.
People who stream directly from console have no option to have CC's or translations, and there are streamers who have older hardware that can barely stream to a stable degree without the added strain of using that captioner website that needs Chrome.
