Users who rely on right-to-left scripts face serious limitations when trying to present their identity naturally on Twitch. I’d like to propose a few important improvements to support those users more effectively:
Allow Tatweel (ـ) in Display Names
This character is part of the writing system used to visually stretch words for style or identity. It’s commonly used in names like "ريـوف" or "زيـاد". This should not be rejected as it’s not abuse or decoration — it’s part of natural word formatting.
Support vowel markers (Tashkeel) in Display Names
Some names include vowel signs (like َ ِ ُ ّ ) for pronunciation clarity or stylistic accuracy, such as "رِيناد" with a kasra under the first letter. These are integral to the writing system and should not be blocked.
Allow dashes and spaces in Display Names
Names like “زياد-علي” or “أبو فهد” are readable and natural, but currently restricted. These formatting options are harmless and important for identity expression.
Enable proper Right-to-Left (RTL) alignment in Chat
Messages written in RTL scripts appear broken, with usernames aligned left and text flowing right. This mismatch disrupts reading experience. Full RTL support would resolve this.
Let users choose either Username or Display Name in chat
Currently both are shown together, which causes clutter — especially when mixing different scripts. A toggle to show only one would improve clarity and consistency.
Reduce or remove the 60-day cooldown for Display Name changes
Display Names are used for personal styling and identity. A long restriction limits users from correcting formatting or making small adjustments. A shorter cooldown (like 7 days) would be more fair.
Thank you!
