Please allow the ability to disable "Unban requests"
Please allow the ability to disable "Unban requests"
or provide a way to replace the link with instructions for how to apply for a unban
We have an existing system on CohhCarnage's channel, and would prefer to use that system over the inbuilt Twitch system, but we cannot turn off the inbuilt Twitch system.

We’re looking into adding the option to set a cooldown period that banned chatters must wait out before they can submit a request, including a “never” option that would allow you to prevent requests entirely.

Including an option to ban and automatically report users for community guideline violations should also be an option... as making extra steps to report bannable behavior on twitch is far too tedious.

Ability to disable channel ban appeals

As a moderator, my job is to protect chat and keep my streamer from getting distracted. I already review all bans I've made at the end of each stream to ensure I was justified in doing so. I've yet to see much of anything meaningful in these unban requests.
Banned users will already send a whisper to each moderator, and a DM over Discord, Twitter, etc, rather if we like it or not, so I find the unban requests to just be extra, unnecessary paperwork. -

This disable option is 100% necessary. Currently it appears Twitch is deliberately providing abusive users access to streamers who've banned them. Imagine how many people will violate restraining orders using this. I can't believe the Twitch legal dept allowed this.

I agree with TwoFrothyBeards This feature is not needed and is certainly NOT being used for the intended purpose. All this feature does is allow trolls to continue the harassment that got them banned in the first place. Bad idea! Push this request to the top because this NEEDS to be up to the channel to decide to use it or not, and would immediately be turned off on my channel for sure.

FWIW, the banned chatters can only send one unban request, ever, unless you unban them and reset it. We're getting a small flood at first too, but only one per banned person. There's a finite number of those, and eventually only new bans will be potential sources of unban requests. And, the "spam" is only visible to mods, so at least you got it out of your chat and limited it to one more message ever.
Obviously, yes, like most creator features on Twitch it needs an off switch for those who don't want it. Some channels hand out more permanent bans than others.
I prefer to offer a single second-chance if your unban request sounds sincere and apologetic, and for that the unban requests feature is perfect. Way better than whispers, which are now discouraged by the inability to acquire a channel's modlist after your account's been banned. It's just... Geared towards only one kind of channel moderation and leniency, the one I use.
I think a few tweaks (OFF Switch, API access, Alternative Unban Link for people who have their own forms, and a more thorough user history) could make it extremely useful.

Can we place instructions in the system to allow like a single application per week/month per user?

"This is something that may take us time to get to, but in the meantime, you can Deny requests and place instructions for your system in the Deny Message." Yeah, see, the whole point is to *not* have to deal with doing this.... You're enabling harassers, abusers, racists, *phobes, etc. to all have a final jab and this increases the tax on both streamers and their mods. Thanks for giving me more work, folks.

Even if it's a 1 time thing, this is a perfect method for spambots to come in, intentionally get themselves banned (especially if they know certain channels have certain filters) specifically to spam via unban requests.

Worst thing twitch did in years. The ones that are banned can still come and say bad words now in this uban thing. I want to take it out of my channel and i can`t, and messages still come. Bad idea twitch, take it off quick, its not good.

As a mod, I don't understand why this wasn't implemented with the ability to disable. We've had nothing but troll requests so far and have other ways to deal with unbanning people. It's literally nothing but a way to give trolls another opportunity to harass us. So thanks for that I guess?

Day 2 and as a mod, its been a constant stream of harassment from people banned. This feature is the most toxic thing Twitch has done to date

So now trolls can keep spamming you after you ban them. Great idea twitch!

This is a terrible idea implemented terribly.

Why would you give trolls a backdoor to continue harassing streamers after they get banned? This is the worst idea ever. If it is going to take a long time to let us disable it, just remove the feature. We hate it. A lot. It hurts us more than helps us. The only ones who are celebrating this feature are trolls.
I can't believe someone at Twitch came up with this idea. I can't believe it got approved. I can't believe you implemented it without any feedback from streamers.

Hey, @mouse, here's my system... Come to my channel and say racist, sexist, hateful, rude, and/or disgusting things you get banned. Done. I stand behind my mods too. There's no coming back from that. I will not allow you back into my channel. Please don't try to tell me how to run my channel by telling me to "place instructions for your system in the Deny Message." My system is clear in my channel's rules when you join. Break them, and Twitch shouldn't be there to save them.

I can see the benefit of this. People I have banned have harassed other viewers completely halting the stream. But for larger streamers this feature seems like a house fly.

I'm honestly very confused as to why twitch would even implement such a feature. Who is asking for this? Surely not streamers or the majority of mods I know. Most of us only ban users when they've done something we consider to be egregious and there are already enough avenues for banned users to harass mods and streamers in other areas across twitch. Was this put in place solely to placate users who are repeatedly banned and complain about it? I can see no other point at all and strongly endorse the idea of allowing streamers to opt out of this.

This will be abused more than it will provide any service to the community.
As the many community voices speaking out against likely will not prevent rolling it out, please at least offer content creators and moderators an opt out option before implementation.
