Bug - Oh bummer… an error occurred while playing this content
Can log into the application on the TV, can see previews of what is happening on the stream, but when I go to watch it it gives me the “Bug - Oh bummer… an error occurred while playing this content” message. It just started happening today. I have not done any new updates, haven’t changed wifi, didn’t disconnect wifi at all when it started happening. I was watching a stream and just went into another one and this pops up no matter what I do.
I have tried shutting off my tv and unplugging it for an extended period. I have disconnected from wifi and reconnected. I have cleared the cache from the app as well as run a diagnostics on the TV. I uninstalled and reinstalled. I checked permissions on my TV. I signed out and signed back into twitch. What else can I even do?

I have the same problem as Daphne. Limiting the LG app's number of VODs hurts the user experience. Forces me to watch on another device, but there's a reason I'm choosing the LG app. If you make it so the all the content isn't there, I'm just less likely to use it. If you force me to use another device, you're now competing with other services you weren't before.

Any resolution here? I'm on a Sony Android TV and it used to always work. I've reinstalled the app and it's still doing it. This has been going on for over a month.

It seems to be something related to paid promotion. I can see other streamers that doesn’t have that and its ok.

I had this issue happening on my samsung smart tv, as well as on my ipad pro. I fixed it by logging out on the ios twitch app on the ipad and logging back in. Didn’t have to do anything on the samsung except reload stream.
Edit for extra info:
I could watch the stream for a few seconds before it crashed and I got the error message:
“An error occurred while trying to play this content.”
I was only getting this issue trying to watch one specific streamer who had “Mature stream” warning on, so I am guessing it was some bug related to that, and logging out/in seems to have resolved it.

Weirdly enough VODs work for me. Also later found out that it started happening while also trying to air play from Crunchyroll. Weird bug and may be a permission thing or internet port forwarding issue but we’ll find out soon enough.

Same here. Using the LG TV app. I'm not sure if there was an automatic update, but regardless, no live or VOD is working.
