On the LG WebOS app, make it so the twitch chat does not disappear over a period of time without remote movement. Or give us a settingto pin
The chat closes after a period of time if there is no remote movement, which is frustrating when sitting and watching. Maybe leave the chat open permanently or give a setting to make it disappear over a period of time

I said ******* and just bought an NVIDIA Shield TV, the android app works perfectly and AI upscaling is better with it.
Try to find any cheap android TV option you could buy and just use that one, since i don't think this will be fixed...

I have been holding back purchasing another LG TV due to this issue. Good that the app now properly supports runing week playback, but second vital part is still missing and this is having chat not to turn black during playback. Fix please now.

This is emberrassing how in 2022, and 2 years after the post, the issue is still relevent. I'm almost to the point where I'll plug my laptop to the TV...

Please tell me I didn’t speak all this money on my tv. Twitch is my go to and having chat disappear is rather annoying. If screen burn is an issue it’s not static.

please fix it! I need the chat. Why twitch would not make it optional to make a click for chat ON or a click that the chat disappears. Is that really so difficult? That’s not possible :-((((

I did some additional testing yesterday. I tested with 2 LG tvs. One was th e 2021 G1. The other was a 2021 model# 43UM7300PUA.
Using the twitch app available via the lg app store: on the non G1, I was able to have the chat stay up for at least 10 minutes. It was still up at the 10 min mark but I stopped my test. I tried the same on the G1 and the chat went away after exactly 2 minutes.
I then tested my Google Chromecast TV (the one with the built in OS and a remote) on both TV's. I used the twitch app available via the Google app store for the Chromecast tv. Using it on both the non G1 and the G1 I was able to get at least 10 minutes without the chat going away.
So either the twitch app was configured to work differently for the G1, or LG is doing something on the tv to make the chat go away.
As a work around now, I'm going to use my Chromecast TV since it doesn't make the chat go away after 2 minutes. Hopefully that helps some of you.

Just another reason I'm going to take back the TV and buy another Sony. I like simplicity and ease-of-use. Having to press a button every 10-min to see chat is the exact opposite. It's already been 2-3 years of waiting for a fix and they apparently don't care.

It has to be Twitch, because every other app out there on the LG TV has the ability to stay on while watching without the screen saver coming on (unless the content is paused, then the saver may come on.) Twitch is the only one that can have active content and still go to screen saver.

I contacted LG directly with Twitch' statement saying the disappearing of the chat is a feature made by LG.
LG replied that twitch tv app is a third party app and twitch themselves gotta fix it.
So in short: Twitch is saying only LG can fix it. LG says only Twitch can fix it.
Pack it up boys, this will never be fixed.
