Lower Video Quality Options for Affiliates More Consistently
I have a lot of my community who can't watch me if I stream in 1080p and I would like to stream in 1080p but I can't do that at the risk of losing viewers so can we get more transparent information on when Affiliates will get lower video quality options so every one can enjoy the stream.

Hello. There are many ways to increase video performance. I would suggest that you make audio clips under the video. So that people can not only watch the video, but also listen to it. There are different situations in life and it may be more convenient for someone to listen than to watch. In order to do this, you need to convert video to audio. Go to this https://wave.video/blog/youtube-to-mp3-converters/ And there is a good description of how to do it correctly. There are 15 free tools that will help you. In this way, you will improve your service and people will be more interested.

yeah, it's super annoying also when you open a new stream window, default is 1080p60 which instantly breaks all my streams. also would be ecological to offer smaller resolution for everyone since usually it's just a waste of energy to send high res image of bad camera.

We all know Twitch have streamers all over the world, we also know that not every country have a great internet connection, but that does not keep us to stream or watch someone stream.
With that said, unlock all quality options, lower to higher, to all streamers.
Or at least 1080p and 720p. Viewers should be able to choose based on their reality.Thank you.

Agreed. I was streaming yesterday and two viewers were complaining about that. I have no other options beside 1080p, it would be great to have lower quality stream (960p, 720p, etc) so users with bad internet connection have a chance to watch us too.

Many times I was unable to see the Streams of some affiliates and non affiliates because their stream quality was only at source and the different stream quality option is readily available for Partners only. While affiliates and non-affiliates have to restart their stream sometimes quite a few times to get the option. I feel like this further decreases their visibility and growth because many people with not so good Internet are unable to watch them in Source quality. I am not a Streamer so I am saying this solely as a Viewer's experience on Twitch. I'd be really glad if the affiliates and non affiliates also get the video options constantly.
Maybe not all the options that Partners have because it is one of the perks of being a partner but at least one or two lower quality options -

yes and also the fact that they cap the bandwidth is ridiculous when alot of streamers have over 40mb/s upload speed we could easily be streaming in 4k !!!

Twitch’s audience has multiplied in numbers since the Covid pandemic but the transcoding has increased to only higher transcoding rates. It has gotten worse for rural areas. Look to provide lower options more often.

Affiliates need quality options as a staple.
As a trade-off, Only partners can stream at 1080pLimit affiliates to 720p30 this will lighten the load on the overall bandwidth needed, allow more people to watch when they live in poor speed zones, it will also add a nice little perk for partners.
As an affiliate, I just started and stoped the stream until I got the options..
I would have been happy with 720p30 -

I understand partner is supposed to give benefits that others don't have, but it is difficult to get anywhere when the stream quality is stuck so high because the viewers can't watch the stream with their internet. In my opinion it's not a benefit, it's unfair. This would not just bring in more streamers and viewers, but benefit them and Twitch.

Give viewers an option to change what resolution they watch a stream on EVERY channel, someone that is forced to watch a stream at 1080p but keeps buffering will go watch a channel that allows them to watch the stream at lower resolutions,(Which only partners channels can) bigger streamers will grow but smaller streamers lose viewership and will grow at a slower rate

Make it possible for non-affiliates/partners to provide for their viewers the option to change video quality. Small streamers have to stream at 720p at least to be attractive to new viewers, but not all viewers can run the stream at such level and it gets laggy. This is a serious hindrance for anyone trying to make it on the Twitch platform.

You should provide more quality options for the smaller Twitch channels as well as non-partnered channels. Right now, you can only have more quality options if you are a streamer with a high amount of viewers or a Twitch Partner. This means that the quality is stuck on "Source" and cannot be altered whatsoever. This needs to be changed. I am on a Chromebook and I can't watch a whole 1080p60/30 or 720p60/30 quality stream without the stream constantly buffering every few seconds. When it stops buffering, it 'plays' the stream for about a few more seconds before it starts to buffer again, and ruins my experience and my ability to watch the stream. My Chromebook is only capable of Twitch streaming qualities up to 480p quality, and anything above that makes the video player suffer as a result. I've been trying to enjoy these streams to no avail and end up leaving because it is practically unwatchable with the constant amount of buffering. Please remove the 'exclusivity' and allow all Twitch streamers to have quality options. This constant buffering is getting on my nerves.

make it so i can set the quality of all the streams i watch to 480p so it doesnt load as much or add the ability to go back in the stream like a minute so it doesnt load as much, because i have bad wifi (like many others) and i dont like how it loads then skips back to live

Bonjour,

I'm an affiliate trying to grow on Twitch. I have numerous people come into my channel asking why 720P isn't available as 1080p is too strong for their bandwidth.
It's making me lose potential followers and its pretty annoying. 720P should not be locked behind becoming a partner especially when it is potentially stopping people from getting closer to partner.

I think the video quality setting option should be available on all channels, not just on partner channels. For my part, I have friends who do not have a good connection to follow my streams in HD. Making the option available on all channels would help small streamers reach an audience that does not have a good connection.
