Use IPv6 for both your homepage and the stream
At the moment, both the Twitch homepage and the actual streaming servers are only reachable over the old IPv4. As there already are providers which only connect their users with DualStack-Lite (this means, IPv6 native and IPv4 over a relatively slow tunnel protocol), it would be good for bandwith-expensive websites like twitch to be reachable over IPv6 - for both the homepage and the streaming servers.

Happy 30th birthday IPv6! RFC 1883 released December 1995.

I was delightfully surprised to observe that the HLS streams I'm watching are now being delivered over IPv6 from CloudFront and Fastly. Now we need the rest of the website itself.

It is really sad the the biggest tech companies aren't able to adopt modern tech solutions. Just imagine one of the big players in other sectors would need over 30 years to adopt a new standard. The original IPv6 RFC is from 1995! We have 2025 now. How do you call yourself a modern tech company?

So I'm commenting as my day job is testing various applications and hardware for IPv6 compatibility. We've had IPv6 for over two decades and have helped push adoption of IPv6 in industry by performing this testing and evaluation.
I use the Apple TV, iOS, and the web based versions of Twitch and it is disappointing that you have not at least stood up a test site (like twitch6.tv) so that you and the various application developers can get at least a start on implementing this.
As other commenters have said, this becomes more and more urgent as IPv4 exhaustion happens - CGNAT is only a band aid solution with more users coming online each day. I'd hope that Twitch would at least setup an open test so we can help you get this implemented.

This is becoming more and more important as time passes, as the internet grows, more and more people uses the internet, which means ISPs are being forced to use CGNAT gateways just to be able to provide IPv4 connectivity to customers only so they can use Twitch and other websites that are still stuck in the past. More people using IPv4, means that the CGNAT gateway gets overloaded, which means worse performance and worse experience for everyone on that network. IPv6 eliminates all of these issues. Please prioritize this request.

This is a complete embarrassment. The request is nearly EIGHT years old now. It's 2023 and Twitch still does not support IPv6. Should we use an alternative to Twitch just to stream and watch over the current Internet Protocol version for better performance?

Last week I submitted a ticket informing Twitch that I am unable to make any purchases (Turbo, subs, bits) per my long-standing policy of not giving vendors money who do not support IPv6 (http://blog.flyingpenguintech.org/2015/10/mission-possible.html)
Their response:
>After following up with our internal teams, it appears that we do not yet have a concrete projection for a roll-out of IPv6.
>I encourage you to still submit your feedback around this in our UserVoice forum.
If others have a similar purchasing policy, please reply here so Twitch gets an idea of what they are missing.

In addition to home/business ISPs going native IPv6 with legacy v4 over tunnel (as noted by the OP), some VPS providers are rolling out IPv6-only VMs with an extra charge for a legacy address. This trend will only increase as legacy addresses become more scarce and therefore more expensive. This means that users wanting to stand up a bot in a datacenter (rather than their home connection) will end up having to pay more. Discord users are already running into this.

No doubt! I second and third this and even more so, I think all isps should be forced to upgrade to IPv6, this should be a industry-standard at this point. Ipv4 is dated and with all of the NAT issues it makes it hard to stay in games or in squads far too often. This has been a ridiculous pain in the rear ends of gamers for far too long.
These isps just get to do whatever they want without any consequences and they have destroyed my life, held up my career and this is just another example of how they continue to do that.
As a dead nobody stream, the only people I ever get are trolls, children who don't have a dad and need attention, or people looking for a gaming Sherpa and in all cases, they want to play with me and then I have to become a multi-purpose tech agent for several different industries just to help them deal with their issues and get in my game and not get kicked out.
At this point I think all of the isps need to be sued and perhaps some of the other tech industries involved with these headaches I am constantly pestered with.
Absurdly annoying microphone conditions is another habitual failure in regards to industry standards that usurps and destroys productivity which equates to destroying my income. Every gaming headset and microphone company should be forced to do a massive recall and should be sued. It truly is an atrocity at an apocalyptic level, ecological disaster, tremendous waste and their products don't work as applicable to there presumed functional purpose.
The list goes on and on really. none of these tech companies seem to want to pay for QA and UI testors but rather they want to make us pay for their mistakes and then we complain, if enough of us complain, they'll address it, maybe, in the next more expensive version of the product and they never do a recall or apologize, they just keep on usurping us. Oh wait, you guys are doing the exact same thing right here. LOL. Good thing I like you.

According to PeeringDB Twitch supports IPV6: https://www.peeringdb.com/asn/46489
They announced several prefixes at the end of May: https://bgp.he.net/AS46489However still no traffic with a French ISP : https://as24904.kwaoo.net/as-stats/history.php?as=46489&peerusage=0&v=4
Maybe it will happen soon!

Switch to IPV6, there are a lot of Streamer who have a lot of Trouble since some ISP are switching to IPV6 and DS-lite, so you have a lot of trouble with Paketloss through the IPV6->IPV4 Tunnel.
Guys its 2020 time to chance to the much better IPV6, many User would love the possibillity to enter your Server via IPV6.
you will get much batter latency, quality, and Streaming Performance. -
