We have heard the feedback in this idea & its comments and reworked chat replies to reduce noise. By allowing users to reply directly to a specific message in a thread, only the user being responded to will be @'ed, rather than the user whose comment initiated the thread. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

Hi! I was informed of this being flagged as "Gathering Interest" so I figured I would drop some statistics from my end to help with that gauge
I am the developer of the "Twitch Chat Pronouns" extension that a lot of people use due to this not being a native feature on Twitch.
Currently there are almost 322,000 people that have set their pronouns over at https://pronouns.alejo.io.
As for the extension itself being used, there are 92,670 Chrome users with it installed, 14,370 on Firefox and 1,600 on Edge.
What I do not have data on, however, is people using it via the FrankerFaceZ Add-On, and I know there is a sizable amount of people that use it through that as well, be it for simplicity or for integrations with software like OBS's Embedded chat. There is also a handful of 3rd party tools/alerts/bots/chat overlays that implement my public API.
I feel like this speaks very well for the interest of the userbase for having Pronouns on the site, and making it a native feature would improve on that vastly, especially for mobile users and people that are new to the platform.
I am very willing to discuss anything that Twitch could potentially need me for, so if needed feel free to contact me.
