Prevent unverified users from using or gaining channel points.
With the addition of customizable chat verification with emails and phone numbers as listed here:
https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2021/09/29/securing-your-chat-with-phone-and-email-verification/
Users who don't pass those verifications are still able to gain channel points and interact with chat by redeeming channel points that don't require a message.
There have been hate raids that utilize these channel point redeems because they show in chat even when sub-only or emote-only chat is on. They include hateful words or doxed information in their usernames, and with this bypass they're able to show that in chat.
Please prevent these unverified users from gaining channel points, or at the very least from redeeming them.

As long as these are options controlled on a per-channel basis, I don't know what rational basis people have for not liking this change. Not every channel is the same; not every channel is at the same level of risk for being hate raided or trolled by another active streamer. Letting each channel owner set the level of community interaction they're comfortable with makes it more difficult for malicious actors to intentionally take advantage of those channels, while leaving everything more open for those who are fine with it.

I don’t like the phone verification idea in the first place, this seems like it had the potential to further ruin the experience for some as well.

Don't stop unverified from earning, just from redeeming. Oops!

Yes please. This seems such an obvious oversight that I'm hoping it is a mistake that is easily fixed. Non-verified individuals should not have any bearing on chat at ALL if you choose.
