Remove hate groups

Remove the hate group that spreads misinformation and hate mongering while promoting abuse towards autistics and replace it with Autistic Women and Nonbinary Network.

Our goal is to provide streamers with a wide variety of charitable organizations and enable them to decide who to support. The scale of this program may mean that people within our community may not agree with or support all of the included organizations, even if they are currently compliant with our policies.

Twitch partners with the PayPal Giving Fund, and they monitor charities on a daily basis for verification of their 501(c)(3) status in country-specific registries, compliance with PayPal Acceptable Use Policy, and more. We don’t allow charities that violate our hateful conduct policies on Twitch, or whose organization or leadership engage in or promote behaviors that violate our Off-Service policy. At this time, this organization does not violate our Off-Service policy.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us. We’ve added a number of charities that support Autism-related causes, including the Autistic Women and Nonbinary Network, based on feedback from the community. We encourage you to continue sharing charities you would like to see included or that you believe may violate our policies so we can evaluate.  You can learn more about charity on Twitch in our help article.

    I am not sure if it recorded my vote my browser is acting funny but, I am a streamer who has autism. I do not really talk about it because of trauma from how people treat autistic people. As such I do not want such charities linked to a site that I am contracted to, even if I am temoprarily not in the affiliate program because of my living situation.

    Pleaaaase remove this group. this group has had many incidents violating the rights of autistic children and adults, as well as dehumanizing their experiences and life. They clearly promote behaviors and values against twitch's community guidelines.

    As an autistic person, autism speaks is not anyone who represents us. They are hateful and awful and wish for us to Not exist anymore rather than raise our voices. There are so many different autistic charities Twitch can explore that actually support us and represent us as people- not as burden on society and our families!

    The infamous "I Am Autism" ad (watch it now) treats Autism like a "monster" that's worse than "AIDs & Cancer". Most of Autism Speaks' money is paying the Board (no one on that board has Autism and In 2018 the CEO made $642,000) and for finding cures. It's a eugenics hate group and does not deserve to be on Twitch, or anywhere for that matter.

    Autism Self Advocacy Network is another good one: http://autisticadvocacy.org. Groups like Autism Speaks have no place being supported by any organization or platform that seeks to be truly inclusive.

    Please remove “Autism speaks” as a funded charity, they are a hate group and are harmful to the autistic community. They support finding ‘cures’ to autism and damage the reputation of autistic individuals, this charity does not deserve any recognition.

    Please listen to the autistic community and not the parents or "loved ones" of autistic people.

    Autism Speaks has always been the voice of those who feel inconvenienced by us and who wish we were less autistic. It doesn't give a voice to those with autism or grant visibility to the symptoms of autism and it doesn't make us feel welcome on this platform for you to endorse Autism Speaks. It shows us you want to see less autistic behavior in the world and that you believe the people using their disabled children's struggles as a means to get empathy because its "hard parenting a child with autism" over autistic adults, especially those who were raised in those environments and lived through ABA therapy.

    The "new ABA" is not distinct from the "old ABA" in many of the ways that matter most, even "new ABA" is not something informed actually autistic people support. Please don't brush off these concerns because of that justification.

    If you're looking for more information about why ABA is so horrific, 1 in 4 ABA practitioners believe shock therapy can help in some cases help non verbal autistic people and even more support using bad smells, loud frightening noises and other similarly horrific sensory based punishments for "undesirable" behaviours such as stimming.     With as much information available in the public regarding the atrocities of Autism Speaks, it should bring Twitch shame that they even allowed them there to begin with. The first step to remedying this lack of thoughtfulness is to remove the hate organizations, such as Autism Speaks and LGB Alliance, and issue an apology to your creators and userbase as a whole for adding hateful groups as charities.

    Do you not have some sort of inclusion team who can vet these charities before you add them? You should.

    Autism Speaks is an absolutely horrible organization with the intention to promote eugenics as well as ABA therapy (essentially conversion therapy for Autistic people, using tactics such as withholding affection, using food and other things to get Autistic people to act in ways that harm us but are more "socially acceptable". In some places, ABA therapy still uses shocking mechanisms.) and due to much of their actions, so much misinformation about Autism has been spread.

    Please vet charities before putting them on the charity tab, Twitch.

    11/28/22 edit: I am disgusted and sickened by Twitch's response and dismissal of our voices.

    Autism Speaks harms the autistic community and funding them is funding genetic research and ABA.

    ABA is Autistic Conversion Therapy. Ole Ivar Lovaas, a psychologist and researcher, is seen as the father of both ABA and conversion therapy, both around the same time with the same research and studies.

    Autism Speaks and ABA is pretty much conversion therapy for autistics. They want autistics to stop existing, and thus, they are no different than any other hate group.

    Some transphobic groups like LGB Alliance are in there too apparently 😮‍💨
