Suggestion for Improvement in the Channel Points System
Suggestion for Improvement in the Channel Points System
Hello Twitch Team,
After using the platform for a considerable amount of time, I’ve noticed a recurring challenge that many streamers, especially medium and large ones, face regarding the use of channel points. Many streamers have viewers who have been following them for a long time, leading to a large accumulation of points by these long-time followers. The issue is that, to avoid spam in the redemptions, streamers are forced to set very high prices for the rewards, which can demotivate new viewers who don’t have enough points to actively participate.
After discussing this with several streamers, I came up with an idea to solve this problem without the need to reset the points accumulated by older viewers. The proposal is as follows:
Suggestion: Percentage-Based Redemption System
Streamers would be able to configure a reward based on a percentage of the viewer’s points.
To redeem the reward, the viewer would need to have a minimum balance of points.
Example:
Reward: “Drink Water”
Cost: 20% of the viewer’s points
Minimum points required: 1,000 points
In this case, Viewer 1, with 1,000 points, would pay 200 points for the redemption, while Viewer 2, with 500,000 points, would pay 100,000 points for the same redemption. This system would allow both new and long-time viewers to participate fairly, without requiring excessively high prices for the rewards, keeping everyone motivated to engage.
This adjustment would help maintain a more dynamic and balanced interaction between streamers and their viewers, regardless of how long each has been following the stream.
Thank you for your attention, and I am available for any further clarification.
Best regards,
