Let the streamer choose when the boost happens
So I like the idea, but just a few tweaks. I like how the challenge can just pop up and we have a couple days to complete it, but upon completion can we save the boost for the future? I got the challenge on my "friday" so I felt compelled to make sure I completed it within the time frame forcing me to stream on my day off. I did complete it but then the boost happened right away. I would love to see it for the next stream where I can prepare for it, kind of like a front page thing? Maybe make the boost last longer than 2 minutes also =) Thanks
My community managed to raise the 63,750 channel points that were needed for the Twitch Boost (other channels a similar size to mine only needed to raise 20,000ish, but that's another matter)
Basically, we raised the amount and I wasn't aware that the boost starts AS SOON AS you unlock it and for that stream only! I was only doing a very short dog walking stream, so when I ended my stream that was it. I had lost my boost. I was under the impression it was for a limited amount of time and that it would continue when I went live again.
It would have just been nice to know that my stream would get boosted exactly when the goal was reached.
It's just a shame as I would have liked to have made full use of this boost and would've greatly benefitted from it but I ended up wasting it :(
I was notified when I went live that my boost had started. I had 2 days to raise the channel points. My community came in big and put the channel points forth. It literally did nothing for exposure. I saw no difference in viewership from using the boost versus a regular stream. I'm not sure where it puts you on the list of channels, how it promotes you, etc but as a small content creator, I expected it to run a bit different. I expected it to put me in the top of the page for a limited time to allow more exposure for my channel. It's a great idea, but it needs a lot of work. I also think it should be used for affiliates only and not partners. Twitch should keep control of the cost of channel points for the boost. Allowing streamers direct control of the cost for the boost would be a major problem.
Pros: Its a step in the right direction, it engages your community to help you as a creator out, and it has potential to change how people are discovered on Twitch organically.
Cons: It did nothing for growth while the boost occurred. The boost was difficult to understand when it would happen. The url that provides information on the boost is limited. I get that its a new feature and it's being developed.
