Introduce a channel badge that can be upgraded with Channel Points.
Having a channel-specific badge that viewers can display could be a great way to allow users to flaunt long-term viewership in a channel. Similar to the way that a channel-specific bit badge operates, viewers could choose to invest Channel Points in to this badge which would upgrade to a fancier version at whatever cutoff points Twitch decides upon. This can also serve as a good catch-all purpose Channel Points redemption for channels that don't have or want extensive Channel Point options available.
absolutely needed, would give channel points some additional value
The option to be able to give long-standing viewers a special badge for the channel with the redemption of channel points. As this new badge would be where VIP/Mod/1st badges are, these viewers would be exempt. Amount of channel points for redemption to be defined by streamer in line with the size of their channel.
That's a good point, Hedgehog. This suggestion was made back before the Predictions feature came out which introduced a way to obtain channel points outside of just putting in time watching the stream.
As a result, I do think my suggestion here loses some value on the premise of recognizing long-term viewership, but it might still be a fun channel point sink if Twitch sees fit to implement it regardless. Perhaps if instead of spending points on the badge directly, the badge instead is given and upgraded when points are spent (much the same way the bit badge operates) on anything - encouraging participation in other redemptions/polls/predictions that any given channel might offer.
Like the idea of recognising long term viewership but will people be able to use the points they’ve won from gambling to upgrade the badge? It would defeat the purpose if so...
I really do like this idea. Especially viewers who can't afford a sub/bits can show their support with this.
That would be so great!
Splendid idea! That would help us long-term viewers get some recognition.
hmm, was there ever a better idea i wonder
