Mask Requirement for TwitchCon
After the surge of COVID cases after TwitchCon EU it was incredibly surprising to see the lack of mask policy for the event and makes many of us incredibly concerned about TwitchCon NA. Many other cons that have gone without a mask policy have only exacerbated the COVID cases where cons like PAX East, West etc have had much lower cases by having a strict mask policy.
We hear you and take these concerns seriously. In response to all of your feedback, we are updating our TwitchCon policies to require masks, as well as either proof of vaccination or a negative covid test. We will continue to review our health and safety guidelines along with local authorities in order to keep our community safe IRL at TwitchCon San Diego. Thank you for making your voice heard. More info is available here.

If you're not gonna ask for vaccination verification then at LEAST enforce a mask policy. Too many individuals refusing to get vaccinated because "they haven't caught COVID" and yet can still be a carrier for the virus without experiencing any symptoms. While it may be a suggestion this is also a heads up because as someone who's already experienced the virus, I want to attend this con but won't if you choose to not enforce a mask policy

Require masks. You have no idea if someone thinks covid is fake, is non symptomatic, or just doesn't care.
You have immunocompromised creators who deserve to be part of twitch con if they choose.
By not requiring masks you are telling them they don't matter. They do. They matter as much as everyone else.
Don't use "local guidelines" as an excuse . Do the right thing. -

I’ve managed to avoid Covid this whole time, and I know if I attend, this will be what ends that streak unless a proof of vax/negative test and masking are not required. There’s no excuse at this point, especially if SDCC was held in the exact same space and required both. I was very excited to attend, and have already invested a hefty amount of money towards attending, but due to this gross negligence on Twitch’s part, I’m now heavily leaning towards chalking it all up to a loss and canceling everything for my own safety, the safety of the people I live with, and anyone I’d be in close proximity to while traveling in order to get there and back.

I've still managed to avoid COVID
(I frequently test) despite working at a busy attraction, and the only reason I can give why I've done that is because I've continued to wear a mask. I wouldn't go to an event like this without a mask requirement. -

Conventions are a huge spreader! This is an INERNATIONAL event. People are flying from across the world and you’re telling me they don’t even need to take a Covid test? Fix this. Stop making it impossible for the world to continue. This is a step back.

I agree with this post, I have been avoiding Cons for the longest time to try to avoid covid. If I did choose to go to a Con I would absolutely not go to one that did not mandate masks at the very least. Proof of Negative test should also be required and a proof of vaccination would also help to keep things much safer.

Please make masks mandatory. This is a very unobtrusive but clinically effective way of helping reduce covid risk. This should not be left up to preference, as many people have to attend because it's a requirement for work or because they've already spent money on tickets, and they should not be made to feel unsafe. Many of these people will be at high risk of infection or immuno-compromised. We can't just think of the healthiest among us, we have to think of EVERYONE. Protect the community and ask ALL to mask up.

Please, for the safety of everyone attending, require masks.

The pandemic isn’t over and it’s imperative to have mask mandiates and vaccine/negative test verifications in place. Not doing so is just setting this up to be a super spreader event and making Twitch look even worse.

Mandatory mask mandates save lives and keep people healthy. SDCC had mandatory masks and either negative test or proof of vaccination. The owners of the building can absolutely require masks. It’s that easy. The current policy is highly irresponsible.

Comic-Con had both a mask policy for indoors and a proof of vax/negative test and it was super easy.
I can kind of understand why TwitchCon may not want a mask policy as it'll be flooded with people broadcasting, but proof of vax should be in place.

There should be some sort of wrist band showing that you've been vaccinated and if you haven't then masks should be a requirement. There are so many people that if they get sick, and not just sick with covid, it makes them miserable, even a simple cold could take them out for days, not having a mask requirement is just irresponsible

To keep this space accessible to the disabled/immunocompromised community, I would like to see a mask and vaccination requirement. Those are very minimal precautions.

We had a vaxed wrist band at Comic-Con and wore masks and everything was fine. It was super easy.

I caught covid at TC Amsterdam and am still trying to recover over 2 weeks later. That was with me wearing a mask whilst I was there, unfortunately there were very few others doing the same.
The least they need to do is to have a mask policy.

Between Covid and Monkeypox, masks should be a MINIMUM requirement, but there should absolutely be a full vaccination requirement for all attendees!

I've gotten covid by being an up to date vaccinated individual and still got it by wearing a mask indoors to an event. PLEASE consider having masks or tests required to keep the community safe. We've been doing this for 2 years- by doing so, it shows that Twitch cares and looks out for their community.

I would also like to see mandatory testing in addition to the mask requirement.

I'm a chronically ill gamer and huge stream enjoyer. Please require masks and proof of vaccination against Covid-19 at TwitchCon.
