Mask Requirement for TwitchCon
After the surge of COVID cases after TwitchCon EU it was incredibly surprising to see the lack of mask policy for the event and makes many of us incredibly concerned about TwitchCon NA. Many other cons that have gone without a mask policy have only exacerbated the COVID cases where cons like PAX East, West etc have had much lower cases by having a strict mask policy.
We hear you and take these concerns seriously. In response to all of your feedback, we are updating our TwitchCon policies to require masks, as well as either proof of vaccination or a negative covid test. We will continue to review our health and safety guidelines along with local authorities in order to keep our community safe IRL at TwitchCon San Diego. Thank you for making your voice heard. More info is available here.

I might not be going to twitchcon but I did go to vidcon and out of the 10 or so people I mainly interacted with, 6 got sick- 4 with confirmed Covid. I wore a mask and was lucky that I had gotten Covid previously or I probably would’ve gotten it. Wear masks people!

I will not be attending twich con due to the mask and Covid requirements. Please do a twitter search of “twitch con Amsterdam and Covid” to see the amount of community members who publicly mentioned that they got Covid from attending your event. Please do better.

I was solidly on board with going as long as COVID requirements were good. They're not, therefore I'm not going unless that changes

Can't wait to get infected by the banned Twitch Politics creators who show up!

You know better than this! Make masks a requirement!!!

I see that Twitch is planning to have historic low attendance at this year's Twitch Con. Absence is the only logical response to such a disregard for attendee's health.

I was debating going this year, but the lack of mask mandate (to say nothing of the lack of vaccine mandate too) makes this a convention a hard pass. Do better, Twitch.

I was definitely planning on going to TwitchCon, but with news of no masking requirement - the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM that should be done - I'm now considering not going unless this changes. A vaccine requirement would be even better, but I'd be happy with just a mask requirement at this point.
After hearing about so many leaving Amsterdam with COVID, you'd think that Twitch would want to do better for the people using its platform for their content creation.

I don't understand how San Diego ComicCon had it mandatory, but not for us. This is very disappointing this even had to be made

this latest GDQ was virtually spread-free because of the mask + vaccine + test mandates, you endanger everyone at your event and around the world for no reason by not doing the same
dead customers can't make you any more money, twitch

Inexcusable of them. They know better

Hello I was planning to go to Twitch Con in San Diego, but with no precautions, I'm not sure I want to anymore and I won't be networking with others to have them buy tickets and attend either.
I encourage you to take the same precautions SDCC, Star Wars Celebration, and DragonCon took to at least make sure people had a vaccine or negative covid test, and require masks at the event. Even AnimeExpo reinstated their policy after they announced they wouldn't have any precautions.
Thanks for your time,

So many content creators and viewers are immunocompromised and have been doing their best to stay safe, including staying masked, staying home, and getting vaccinated so they can remain healthy and then you do this? Plus there’s monkey pox and new variants of Covid. Correct your stance on this, require masks and vaccinations.

If only to ward away those we do not want there anyways. Mask requirements should be a must.

Masks + proof of vaccination or negative test. Over half of the people I hung out with at TC EU got Covid. I don't know how I managed to avoid it (I was foolish for feeling awkward about wearing a mask) but I'm not taking that risk again, especially with a convention on another continent. I'm going to be looking at cancellation of my flight if they don't change this, because I'd rather lose a few hundred euros than spend a few thousand and risk getting horribly ill

It’s a freaking no-brainer. Keep the mask and vax/negative test requirement. Keep people SAFE.

Vaccines and masks should be the bare minimum for protecting large communities of this size. Why doesn't Twitch care about the people PAYING to attend their events?

Mask mandate and proof of vaccination or negative test are the absolute bare minimum. Everyone I know who went to Twitchcon EU returned covid positive. It is outrageous that the response to that is loosening restrictions for the next event. It shows a callous disregard for your users to suggest they attend an event to foster community, and betray the health and safety of that community.

Co-signed. Vaccine requirements and/or proof of negative (PCR!) testing within 72 hours of the event.

There is no reason we can't have a mask requirement for TCSD. The same venue had a mask requirement (and proof of vaccination requirement) for SDCC two years running.
