Fix the Ads for Bits
I love the idea for supporting streamers with bits but frankly I don't have the money to spend on bits, so that's why I rely on the free bits from ads, but one time after watching an ad it says "Try again later" under the Watch Ad button. At first I thought "Ok. I'll just watch more tomorrow" but it still said "Try again later" and it has been like that for months so I gave up checking at this point. If you could fix this or at least ease on the time you need to wait between ads. Maybe like one or two ads a week and these ads can stack, (for example if I don't watch my two ads for one week I can watch 4 ads next week and if I don't watch those 4 ads, next week I can watch 6 ads, and so on.)
Of course the "two ads per week" is just yet another suggestion, you can tailor it to however you feel fit. I just at least want a way of knowing "Hey! I watched all my ads. I can wait until _______ to watch another one." instead of relying on what feels like random luck to watch another ad.
I've had twitch for a little while now, and have purchased bits, but never once seen the "ad" button working. It always says to check back later....seems broken
I have never used the ads for bits function, but one of my favorite streamers was doing a special bits donation so I decided I would try to get some and I wasn't allowed to because my ad limit was reached. I had no idea the ads for bits limit was exactly 0.
My account has been unable to get bits for weeks now and it is bothering me immensely. Its a family account we use to support a family member and been able get bits smootly for months as we watch, and then all of a sudden we can't get anymore? The ad watching button unable to be clicked and it is bothering me, I know that ads can be watched on the channel because it is small and trying grow and now not a single ad able to be watched? What is even going on? Th account has many hours watching the streamer so why this now?
I know it won't work if you use any kind of adblocker. I assume they're tracking people, seeing if they actually buy anything through the ads. Then black listing people who never buy anything after a couple months of watching ads.
It would make sense, so the clickthroughs are more valuable to the advertiser.
Only way I can think of earning bits to donate for free if you've been blacklisted from earning bits through ads, is just doing live streams yourself and wait for someone to donate them.
I haven't been able to watch ads for bits for months. After I got a certain amount and decided to use all of them that I earned on one streamer, Ive been locked out of getting them since. I understand that ads are limited and not guaranteed. That’s cool and understandable, but when a person in my same household can watch ads for bits but I cannot, there is something going on there. If you have locked my account, at least be transparent about it and why it happened and how to remedy the situation. Contacting support and getting a blanket response that they are limited or not available in your area is an easy way to dismiss the issue. This seems to be either a bugged system or just a nice way to say f-you to people of your community. Some of us cannot afford to buy bits and we try to help support streamers in the ways that we can. If you remove that ability, we go elsewhere. Since I haven’t been able to watch ads for bits, I’ve been watching twitch streams less and less. If you want me, and others as it appears, to be able to support the twitch community, this issue should be fixed.
I also have not been able to watch ads for bits since late June/ early July.. I tried contacting support about it, and they basically told me tough bananas because ads for bits is not a guaranteed feature. I am a full time streamer and this is how I support people in my community, I cannot afford to just buy the bits and Twitch is not letting me earn them.
Please fix this. I've been wanting to do my donations since before but it's not allowing me, its only saying that "ad limit reached" and "try again tomorrow, please fix this.
i tried once and it has never let me do it again. if they want to prevent abuse or something just remove the button or add a countdown to give an idea when you can do it again
I made my account in 2013 and since the start of bits I have never been able to view ads for bits. always "try again later". I have tried this every hour of the day, so it shouldn't be the global daily limit.
My guess is that twitch calculates how likely it is that granting the user "free bits" will make them spend money on the site. And since I haven't paid for anything on twitch for 6 years they might be pretty certain that I won't do so in the future.
I personally just really dislike the silence on the side of twitch.
I smell bad faith. The least they could do would be either make the buttons say how much longer until the next ad is available, or simply not bother offering bits for ads in the first place (rather than giving us what essentially amounts to false hope; if you don't know when the next ad is available, don't bother teasing us!)
I have stopped spending bits altogether, and probably won't pay for any more subs (other than the 'free' one that comes with my Prime), because I don't have the money for this sh**. I only spent $ one time on bits, and that was for the "starter" discount.
(Ironically, I'm one of the few people that is genuinely aware of and okay with being "sold" to advertisers; whatever makes the wheels turn... but the wheels aren't turning when I can't watch ads)
edit: just to be clear, I understand that there is a "limit" on the number of ads that can be watched in total between all users at a given time; my problem is that the current system seems... difficult, to say the least. So long as there is a constant "flow" of ads into the pool, people that have watched an ad should eventually be allowed to watch another, without having to refresh every 20 minutes or something. If you have to, sell some ads to Google or something; they've got plenty! Because the current system is stupid and unfair, and I don't think anyone can reasonably question this. My decision to boycott the Sub and Bits purchasing systems still stands; you need to fix this sh** because it pisses me off
Kind of sad that this issue is over 2 years old and still ongoing. Come on Twitch, fix your sh*t. Stop being greedy and allow for free bits via ads again.
I haven't been able to watch ads for bits for a year and a half. I had to create a whole different account just for donating bits. And the ads work on that account. I honestly don't know if it had to do with something with watching too many ads, but all I want is some bits on my main account. Please, Twitch, fix this.
Says I need to turn off my ad blocker when it is off
have not gotten bits scence 2018
Fix dis. i had ad blocker on 1 time and i think that was my only shot
it still says try again later
Why the **** is it even still an option IF IT DOESN'T WORK??
ever since my account has been created i have never been able to recive bits
I never got the watch ads for bits to work
