Modview UI Update Feedback
The new Modview UI update that just rolled out has a really inefficient use of space. The offline/stream session bar at the top that is fixed and 90% blank is a complete waste of space. It should be moveable like the widgets so we can place it where we want it, and minimisable so it can just be on the sidebar like it was previously. The gaps between the widgets has also doubled, and that is also all just wasted space, it was completely fine before. Trying to use modview on something like a laptop was already a space compromise, and these updates just made it worse.
We should also be able to turn off the notifications that appear when a new channel goes live in the top right (I don't need to know 5 channels I follow have gone live since I opened modview), and the top left dropdown menu pointlessly pulses with a pink notification dot due to the 'review raids' setting menu having "new" things after a raid.
Not a huge fan of the chat modes now being in a drop down menu that takes an extra click and second to activate. I only use these in an emergency and I want to be able to activate them as fast as possible. That drop down menu should also be a widget we can place in the main layout.
The new dropdown of channels you follow should have options to sort by viewer count ('high to low' and 'low to high') as well as alphabetically.
Thank you for your feedback.
For context, we had two problems we were trying to address with this UI update:
- We have some features planned down the line that will not work as widgets and need a new space within Mod View. While we hope that they will warrant the addition of the top nav bar, we understand that it currently feels like a poor use of space.
- We have heard that users new to Mod View find the interface overwhelming. Some of the tweaks to the interface were intended to help with this.
With that said, we acknowledge that this update may feel like a downgrade for users comfortable with the density of information presented in the previous Mod View. We’ll be looking into ways to improve the experience for our power users (as well as new) while making room for new features. In the meantime, we have added the option to access the previous Mod View UI via the (?) button in the top-right corner of Mod View.

Just accidentally updated to the "new" modview and this is jarring and sucks. An option to keep the old UI would be great.

Totally agree. The new Session Time bar is mostly wasted space and with it there, there is no longer 16:9 space for the vid window to live in. There is an option to remove "stream info stripe" under the video but a far better solution imo is move stream title and viewer number into the Session Time bar. The space is there... why not use it?

I second these suggestions. Before this change, i had the widgets for blocked and permitted under the viewer list but now things like that are in a drop down menu which just feels clunky to me. Maybe it would be a better idea to have us choose which one we want in the drop down menu if they are insisting on us using that thing so that we can still have a lay-out that works for our needs.
Overall, this mod view UI update just feels bad as the font is harder to read, too much space between widgets and the widgets that are needed are partially hidden in dropdown menus now. -

100% all of this.

Absolutely agreed. The 'New' Mod View UI was obviously designed by someone who has never modded, before, since enlarging fonts, buttons, and borders and adding that useless -unremovable- top bar to make it 'look pretty' took away space for information mods need to be able to see. Further, adding -unremoveable- mod buttons to the viewerlist only serves to ensure mods will misclick more often. And, most importantly, hiding the most useful "omg, I need to click this RIGHT NOW" buttons behind an oddly placed/out-of-the-way drop down menu has to be the most ill-thought-out decision of the entire mod view revamp.

I agree with the above statement. The new user interface wastes so much space. In addition, the list of viewers is wider, which once again took some pixels out of the view, and if you close it and then click someone's nickname, a user tab will open, but closing that tab will not cause the list of viewers to minimize to the previous position.

also to ask have the in-widget notification been disabled as well? Like I can't see the number of active mods in chat at a glance without clicking it, being able to see who is active modding is helpful depending on how active the chat gets

Stream Time used to show on the left, below the sword symbol and that kept it combined with the docked widgets for the rest of mod-relevant things. It being above the video both makes the video smaller and gives a more cluttered feel so I suggest putting it back on its original place or allowing it to be modified (changing size and location as we can with Stream and Chat, for example). Same space-taking and cluttered feel to the Streamer Menu, and for that I'd suggest making it something you can either edit, hide or have it show as you mouse over the stream video.
