How can we improve emotes on Twitch?

Badges/Emotes: Digital Asset Manager

Please Start Allowing WEBP and WEBM Formats. They're Smaller!

Hello Twitch staff!

Please start allowing us to use WEBP and WEBM for images and animations. I'm not just talking about emotes. I'm talking about banners and panels too.

These are substantially smaller file sizes for Twitch to host. It's a win for you and a win for us!

As a professional artist it's very difficult to animate with your file size restrictions. Please unlock WEBP and WEBM for us in 2025.

Thank you for your consideration of my idea.

WebP is a more modern and efficient image format, and it's already supported on "the latest devices and major browser versions" according to caniuse.com.

Please add support for retrieving WebP images for all images to help improve the loading time and user experience for third-party clients using the API.
