Recent Username Change Badge
After a user changes their username, it is currently not possible for a streamer or other chatters to identify a user who may have recently changed their name or what their previous name was. This makes the interactions with both streamers and chat after changing your name difficult. Other platforms have already implemented features that can identify a user by both a new and previous handle.
The idea would be to have a temporary global badge applied to users who elect to perform a username change. The badge could be switched off on a per-channel basis (or entirely) using the existing identity control options. Ideally, a tooltip hovering over the badge or a line in the mini user profile window would identify the previous username. With the mandatory minimum 6 month hold on usernames, there should be no issue with reuse during the temporary time the user would have this badge. I believe a window of ~14 days should be sufficient for users to elect to use the badge and reintegrate into their favorite communities more seamlessly.
This would alleviate the need for users to repeatedly share in chat their recent name change, their previous handle, or miss out on connections they previously held. Thanks!
