End Twitch's Partnership With Chevron
Twitch needs to end its partnership at Twitchcon with Chevron.
Chevron is guilty of many international crimes stemming from its involvement in environmental disasters across South America and Africa, and also it's deep investment in and complicity with the Palestinian genocide happening in Gaza and across the Middle East.
From: https://afsc.org/chevron-fuels-israeli-apartheid-and-war-crimes
"Chevron is one of the world’s largest fossil fuel companies. By 2017, the company was responsible for approximately 3.2% of the world’s total emissions.
Chevron has yet to clean up the 16 billion gallons of toxic wastewater it deliberately dumped into Ecuador’s Amazon Rainforest between 1964 and 1990, which poisoned the lands and waters of indigenous and rural Ecuadorians in what is considered the world’s largest oil-related catastrophe.
The company has also not cleaned up pollution it left behind in the ***** Delta, which decimated the region’s ecosystem and devastated indigenous groups’ waterways, food systems, and livelihoods.
In 2021, the Chevron refinery in Richmond, California, spilled an estimated 600 gallons of oil into the San Francisco Bay, posing life-threatening contamination and exposure risks to local communities."
"Chevron operates and partially owns the largest Israeli natural gas fields, Tamar and Leviathan.
These gas fields are located in the eastern Mediterranean sea, west of Haifa. The gas from Tamar is processed in a rig that is located farther south, off the coast of Isdud/Ashdod.
Chevron also operates and partially owns the East Mediterranean Gas (EMG) Pipeline, which runs from Israel to Egypt, off the shores of the Gaza Strip."
For Twitch to truly represent the values of the community within it, it must choose partnerships and sponsorships more wisely. This begins with ending it's association with Chevron, a company that directly threatens the livelihoods of every life on Earth with it's environmental destruction and direct benefitting from wars.

Twitch working with Chevron is a slap in the face of the users, who are primarily younger and support a sustainable future, how disappointing.

It is critical that TwitchCon is only sponsored by entities that share the community's values. Chevron stands in stark contrast to those values, and renewing their sponsorship would only enable the company to whitewash their brand from the significant harms inflicted domestically and internationally.
Internationally, Chevron stepped in to fuel an apartheid regime after Egypt stopped supplying Israel with natural gas.
In Nigeria, Chevron used company helicopters to fly in soldiers from the military dictatorship to execute climate activists.
In Ecuador, Chevron/Texaco dumped billions of toxic waste into the Amazon rainforest, refused to clean up their pollution, and judicially harassed the lawyer fighting for the indigenous residents, Steven Donziger, into illegal detention.
And the list goes on.Domestically, Chevron has violated U.S. laws on safety standards, which led to refinery fires and explosions, directly harming workers and the American public.
And that's not even mentioning long-term negative externalities from the environmental impacts of Chevron's business. In summary, Twitch must end its sponsorship with Chevron if it wishes to avoid being perceived as complicit in these serious injustices.

Chevron stands in opposition to our future. We need to build a society for the people and planet, not for the war criminals and climate destroyers

I think it's abhorrent that Twitch is taking a sponsorship from Chevron. I highly doubt many of the creators are in favor of representing such a **** corpo. Do better Twitch.

I agree with this completely; Twitch needs to choose its sponsorships more wisely. Partnering with this corporation is an embarrassment. I know you can do better.

Not only does chevron support the enumerable israeli war crimes against both palestinians and lebanese people,
they are also guilty of an enourmous amount of crimes against indigenous people of both north and south america, two of twitches biggest growing markets. if twitch is serious in its want to support diversity, it would be a callous disregard of all work done in this area for twitch to keep chevron on as a sponsor not just for twitchcon. but twitch period -
