End Twitch's Partnership With Chevron
Twitch needs to end its partnership at Twitchcon with Chevron.
Chevron is guilty of many international crimes stemming from its involvement in environmental disasters across South America and Africa, and also it's deep investment in and complicity with the Palestinian genocide happening in Gaza and across the Middle East.
From: https://afsc.org/chevron-fuels-israeli-apartheid-and-war-crimes
"Chevron is one of the world’s largest fossil fuel companies. By 2017, the company was responsible for approximately 3.2% of the world’s total emissions.
Chevron has yet to clean up the 16 billion gallons of toxic wastewater it deliberately dumped into Ecuador’s Amazon Rainforest between 1964 and 1990, which poisoned the lands and waters of indigenous and rural Ecuadorians in what is considered the world’s largest oil-related catastrophe.
The company has also not cleaned up pollution it left behind in the ***** Delta, which decimated the region’s ecosystem and devastated indigenous groups’ waterways, food systems, and livelihoods.
In 2021, the Chevron refinery in Richmond, California, spilled an estimated 600 gallons of oil into the San Francisco Bay, posing life-threatening contamination and exposure risks to local communities."
"Chevron operates and partially owns the largest Israeli natural gas fields, Tamar and Leviathan.
These gas fields are located in the eastern Mediterranean sea, west of Haifa. The gas from Tamar is processed in a rig that is located farther south, off the coast of Isdud/Ashdod.
Chevron also operates and partially owns the East Mediterranean Gas (EMG) Pipeline, which runs from Israel to Egypt, off the shores of the Gaza Strip."
For Twitch to truly represent the values of the community within it, it must choose partnerships and sponsorships more wisely. This begins with ending it's association with Chevron, a company that directly threatens the livelihoods of every life on Earth with it's environmental destruction and direct benefitting from wars.

Receiving blood money from chevron while your users struggle to survive a climate crisis is so tone deaf.

Drop Chevron, surely there's better sponsors that aren't trashing the environment and complicit in genocide.

Fossil fuels are destroying the world, as these people, CHEVRON, are funding Israel who is also destroying the world and committing a genocide.
Does Twitch support the genocide of Palestinians? Their actions in the next few weeks will answer this question.

It's really messed up that Twitch has a genocide sponsor for Twitch con. Especially when there are many companies not participating in ethnic cleansing and wide-scale environmental destruction that don't have blood on their hands.

It doesn't surprise me that an Amazon-owned capitalist platform like Twitch is affiliated with a monstrous company like Chevron. We can and should do better.

What is a greater hypocrisy in late stage capitalism than a social media platform that is about any voice speaking about anything being sponsored by a corporate overlord that profits from many of the things those *using* free speech are speaking about?
Twitch, isn't it morally contradictory to promote Twitch-con, to promote highly visible political commentators like Hasan, whilst taking money from a corporation that directly benefits from war profiteering, climate change and more?
Are you not saying to your platform that you do not respect the ability to speak freely, to criticise, to disagree, to be activist *against* such an association as the one you have with Chevron?
There *are* better companies.
There *are* better associations.
There *are* better ways.
Isn't the first step in that *listening* to your end users Twitch?
Isn't the first most important thing you do acknowledge your genuine responsibility to represent them? To *respect* them?
To do *better*?

Cut ALL ties and relationships with Chevron. There is no acceptable reason to have any involvement with an oil / petrochemical company!
Absolutely disgusting that this even needs to be an issue Twitch users have to advocate for. Chevron should have NEVER been anywhere near Twitch in the first place. Get rid of them and get them out of Twitchcon. Do not advertise their products or endorse them in any way shape or form. -

Drop Chevron., there must be another company less associated with war profiteering and climate change. Might as well be sponsored by nazi war criminals that enjoy making the world a worse place. (Same thing) as Chevron.

Stop supporting genocide, find another revenue source... Maybe ask Dan Clancy to reach out to some community members and help find one that at least causes less direct harm while he's popping in on streams. There are a million ways to do better and it only takes one.

Bad enough to partner with genocide, but through climate change, Chevron is gonna kill all of us. Be better, circus of bread-and-circuses.

I get that you all need money to be able to continue services. But you all need to realize that partnerships like this hurt the brand image.
When we go to TwitchCon we want to see brands that resonate with us. No one resonates with gas/fossil fuel companies at a live-streaming/gaming convention.
