End Twitch's Partnership With Chevron
Twitch needs to end its partnership at Twitchcon with Chevron.
Chevron is guilty of many international crimes stemming from its involvement in environmental disasters across South America and Africa, and also it's deep investment in and complicity with the Palestinian genocide happening in Gaza and across the Middle East.
From: https://afsc.org/chevron-fuels-israeli-apartheid-and-war-crimes
"Chevron is one of the world’s largest fossil fuel companies. By 2017, the company was responsible for approximately 3.2% of the world’s total emissions.
Chevron has yet to clean up the 16 billion gallons of toxic wastewater it deliberately dumped into Ecuador’s Amazon Rainforest between 1964 and 1990, which poisoned the lands and waters of indigenous and rural Ecuadorians in what is considered the world’s largest oil-related catastrophe.
The company has also not cleaned up pollution it left behind in the ***** Delta, which decimated the region’s ecosystem and devastated indigenous groups’ waterways, food systems, and livelihoods.
In 2021, the Chevron refinery in Richmond, California, spilled an estimated 600 gallons of oil into the San Francisco Bay, posing life-threatening contamination and exposure risks to local communities."
"Chevron operates and partially owns the largest Israeli natural gas fields, Tamar and Leviathan.
These gas fields are located in the eastern Mediterranean sea, west of Haifa. The gas from Tamar is processed in a rig that is located farther south, off the coast of Isdud/Ashdod.
Chevron also operates and partially owns the East Mediterranean Gas (EMG) Pipeline, which runs from Israel to Egypt, off the shores of the Gaza Strip."
For Twitch to truly represent the values of the community within it, it must choose partnerships and sponsorships more wisely. This begins with ending it's association with Chevron, a company that directly threatens the livelihoods of every life on Earth with it's environmental destruction and direct benefitting from wars.

Not only is this company involved in all the atrocities outlined above, but they also provide literally nothing to the streaming space. I have no idea why twitch thought this was a good idea.

If I had known twitch was sponsored by a company in alignment with the ongoing genocide, I would not have bought a badge.

Absolutely, I hope twitch finds a partner more align with common sense morality for the next years

I was actually quite shocked to see Chevron at TwitchCon. Plenty of us that use Twitch care about our environment and this partnership is truly disappointing.

This should have never happened. Really hoping Twitch shows some awareness instead of ignoring clear cut problems. They have a precedent for this (since the masking-for-twitchcon petition was popular and also ignored), so really hoping for a new leaf to be turned over here. Tacit support for infection and genocide is really not what anyone wants Twitch to be about!

This is a great idea and a great step forward to a better con next year! Hope this is considered and acted upon. We as a community want to see more tangible change, especially from our favourite platfrom!
