Mask Requirement for TwitchCon

After the surge of COVID cases after TwitchCon EU it was incredibly surprising to see the lack of mask policy for the event and makes many of us incredibly concerned about TwitchCon NA. Many other cons that have gone without a mask policy have only exacerbated the COVID cases where cons like PAX East, West etc have had much lower cases by having a strict mask policy.

We hear you and take these concerns seriously. In response to all of  your feedback, we are updating our TwitchCon policies to require masks, as well as either proof of vaccination or a negative covid test. We will  continue to review our health and safety guidelines along with local authorities in order to keep our community safe IRL at TwitchCon San  Diego. Thank you for making your voice heard.     SDCC was able to pull this off at the same venue, so Twitch Con shouldn’t really have much of an issue doing it either. Between Covid still going around and Monkeypox breaking out, there’s no excuse

    so many people, myself included, were excited for TwitchCon and this is going to be such an unwelcomed decision. as someone who lives in San Diego, please reconsider this! we have had high surges in cases to the point where the San Diego Unified School District has put their mask mandate back into place. many of your creators and viewers will get sick from this event if masks are not required.

    Masking and vaccinations should absolutely be required. Without masks and vaccines, we will see an insane number of people who will end up getting sick and spreading it to people via airplanes and trains on their ways homes. This is dangerous!

    Masks and vaccine mandates would increase the safety of not just the convention attendees but the creators as well.

    MASKS AND VACCINES SHOULD BE REQUIRED !!! Monkeypox and Covid are still very real, very serious things.

    Masking and vaccination should ABSOLUTELY be required and enforced. Shame on Twitch for even considering getting rid of those.

    Require masks and showing proof of vaccination at the door! Fanime in the Bay Area did it, it’s not hard. The lack of effort from the organization will further rise the cases for Californians and visitors!

    Masks for sure. Genuinely I cannot stress this enough. And requiring vaccines or a negative test within 72 hours. This is important for the people attending AND for the creators that they are there to see.

    I think some of you forget we are still in the midst of a pandemic with cases higher than ever before. We NEED mask requirements and vaccine requirements to keep everyone safe. It will protect all your creators and all of the viewers, especially ones with disabilities and compromised immune systems. It's dangerous to have that many people at a venue with no strict regulations. Get it together.

    Masks ensure safety for both creators and fans during events! Not to mention, allows disabled and immunocompromised folks to be able to participate in activities that they'd otherwise be excluded from.

    Seriously Twitch, get it together. Twitchcon EU was a super spreader event for the same reason. SDCC was at the same venue and required a vaccine and mask policy. At least show you give a **** and DO THE BARE MINIMUM.

    I was solidly on board with going as long as COVID requirements were good. They're not, therefore I'm not going unless that changes
