When using an external audio interface, or external sound card, such as a Universal Audio Apollo Twin that has multiple inputs and outputs, the device only appears as a single source of output/input.

The ability to distinguish and mix independently the inputs and outputs would prove extremely useful, especially when using multiple mics through the same interface.
