Lower quantity of bits packages
I’m a Twitch streamer and I’d like to share an idea that comes from observing part of my audience, especially younger viewers.
Many users, particularly teenagers and young people, purchase gift cards (such as Google Play or similar) for mobile games or apps. Very often, they are left with small remaining balances: a few cents or a couple of euros/dollars that aren’t enough for meaningful purchases. These leftover credits usually end up being spent on micro-currencies on other platforms or on low-value content.
On Twitch, supporting creators through Bits is generally perceived as something more meaningful and intentional. However, the current minimum purchase threshold makes it difficult to use these small leftover balances. This creates a barrier for users who would like to support a creator in a responsible way, aligned with their actual spending possibilities.
The idea would be to introduce smaller or more flexible Bit packages: for example micro-bundles of 10 or 50 Bits, or even a custom amount selection. This could:
allow users to make better use of small leftover gift card balances
help younger audiences approach creator support in a more conscious and positive way
reduce wasted credit on other platforms
encourage a first, low-pressure interaction with supporting creators
Additionally, increased accessibility to Bits could significantly benefit smaller and emerging streamers. For these creators, frequent small contributions can make a real difference in motivation, community engagement, and channel growth. Lowering the entry barrier would make support feel more natural and widespread, rather than limited to occasional larger purchases.
At the same time, a more flexible system could also benefit Twitch itself by increasing the number of transactions and encouraging more consistent Bit usage, especially among users who are currently excluded due to the existing minimum bundle sizes.
This idea is not about encouraging higher spending, but about making the system more accessible, educational, and aligned with real user behavior. Even small gestures of support can have meaningful value when they help build a healthy and sustainable relationship between creators, communities, and the platform.
