Polls done by Pew Research earlier this year asked people around the world how they view AI. The response for the majority of people are "more concerned than excited" about AI. A 2023 study posted in ScienceDirect found people prefer human art and music over AI art, perceiving human made arts as being more creative and awe inspiring. And another 2023 study, this one done by Gartner, looked at AI use in customer service and recorded an overwhelming majority backlash against it, "The survey, which was conducted in December 2023 and involved over 5,700 customers, found that a whopping 64 percent of respondents said that they would prefer companies not to use AI in customer service. But over half — 53 percent — took an even harder line: they’d consider switching to a competitor if they learned a company was using AI in a customer service role — a staunch rebuttal to employers trying to automate this sector."
Twitch is built on community. If you outsource that community, you risk alienating the very people that make up those communities. And as others have mentioned, AI is raising our carbon emissions and water use by a large factor making it a serious threat to human health and our environment. Do not buy into the AI bubble.

We really do need this, I dread seeing creator-driven platforms undercutting creators. Giving us the chance to figure it out together and being transparent would help.

Feeding the work of creators on Twitch into AI slop engines without consent is a betrayal of the very people who make up Twitch. Not to mention AI is expensive, losing money, and the bubble could pop at any time. If you have money for AI, don't you have money for paying streamers more?
AI is also an ethical nightmare. Theft at its core, used for surveillance, creating serious security issues, exacerbating wealth inequality, scams and misinformation, environmental destruction, massive carbon emissions in a climate crisis, massive water use even in the very communities that are under water restrictions for daily necessities. If you care about the wellbeing of people, Twitch and the communities on Twitch, you will not force AI on us.
