This experiment is now closed as the new mobile redesign is rolling out to all users. Thank you for all your feedback during the experiment. We released an update to respect your autoplay settings in the feed, muted the feed on open by default (you can adjust this in your settings), and added mute functionality directly to the feed to give you more control over your viewing experience. We also enabled PIP over feed and have been continuing to improve app performance since launch. A majority of ads on web and TV apps should now have normalized sound. We are still continuing the work on this and will update the status again when it is fully complete!

My main issue about having ads on VODs is the fact that the streamers do not receive a cut of the ad revenue. This is extremely scummy and I am suprised I don't see more people calling them out for this. Twitch should either remove the ads from VODs completely or start paying the streamers a share of the ad revenue.

Twitch has been running ads when people watch a streamer's Highlights and VODs for quite a while now, yet the streamer that created the content does not earn any ad revenue whatsoever from these ads. This is extremely greedy behavior from Twitch. Streamers should be entitled to a share of the ad revenue on these Highlights and VODs. If Twitch does not want to give streamers a cut, then the ads should not exist on the videos.

Just wanted to update this thread that we are doing an experiment right now with Stream Display Ads!
These are less disruptive ads that allow viewers to see and hear Creators while being displayed. Creators will receive ad revenue for each SDA shown.

Hey guys! We really appreciate the feedback that has been brought forth in this thread and just wanted to update you a little bit on what is going on.
This change was originally made to guard against raid bot attacks. While smaller raids are currently viewable in activity feed in the dashboard, we are working on a solution that treats raids equally while guarding against abuse tactics.
