Mask Requirement for TwitchCon
After the surge of COVID cases after TwitchCon EU it was incredibly surprising to see the lack of mask policy for the event and makes many of us incredibly concerned about TwitchCon NA. Many other cons that have gone without a mask policy have only exacerbated the COVID cases where cons like PAX East, West etc have had much lower cases by having a strict mask policy.
We hear you and take these concerns seriously. In response to all of your feedback, we are updating our TwitchCon policies to require masks, as well as either proof of vaccination or a negative covid test. We will continue to review our health and safety guidelines along with local authorities in order to keep our community safe IRL at TwitchCon San Diego. Thank you for making your voice heard. More info is available here.

I ain't going to TwitchCon but I also don't want people going to a crowded event mid-pandemic (even if it is milder now) because it's such a global event.

Vaccination requirement!!

I’d much rather have proof of vaccination and/or negative Covid test. People don’t follow mask mandates, it’s annoying. So you’ll end up with people who are maskless and unvaccinated. Vaccines should be mandatory

Limited capacity plz it will lower cases a lot

PLEASE! I would love to go and I was really looking forward to going this year. But I cannot attend if there is no safety for the community. Bring back masks and vaccine policies. Masks work!

it is incredibly irresponsible that some sort of mandate or policy was never put into place. SO many people got sick (some even going to the event KNOWING they had covid, further spreading it). Proof of vaccination/negative covid tests should be the least twitch could do for big events like this.

I say test require to enter

Please put in place mask requirements, and a vaccination status of a negative COVID testing prior to TwitchCon San Diego. It isn’t right to not mandate something that’ll help keep the creators, staff, and con goers safe.

Twitch has been doing a lot of ignoring the general consensus of users and industry around them lately, but this takes the cake. Conventions large and small around the country and world are still masked to keep attendees safe. Those that went against this, like Anime Expo and Anime Central saw massive backlash. It only took Anime Expo 24 hours to revise their policy to instate the mask mandate. This isn't complicated. Little harm, major gain. This is standard practice, so FOLLOW it.

Mask should DEFINITELY be a requirement for twitchcon, in addition to a vaccine card. Conventions are always extremely crowded and people (both fans and creators) are constantly getting sick when going to them.

Please require masks and vaccinations, as it helps minimize exposure of Covid and keeps the creators, staff, and patrons safe.

there is consistently over a thousand active cases of Covid in San Diego. not requiring vaccines will *also* lead to infection, and possible permanent health complications/death. Having people be vaccinated against a deadly disease while there are over a thousand active cases in the area is also! the bare minimum!

The results when SDCC went forward, even with restrictions, were horrific. Going forward with no restrictions is just basically guarenteeing covid to all attendees and the local community. Don't make twitchcon a new superspreader event.

Twitch dont be stupid dumb. MAKE MASK REQUIRED

Please dont be ridiculous and require some health mandates. Please have some sense. If you required such in EU and people still caught COVID how do you think this is gonna go? A lot of us are considering not going out of safety precautions. Don't make this terrible mistake.

This shouldn't be a vote. Masks and covid vaccinations should be the standard moving forward.

Please put in place mask requirements, vaccination status, and/or negative COVID testing prior to TwitchCon San Diego. The CDC is still recommending masks in public places and, as a healthcare professional who works directly with COVID patients, not having these mandates is a serious public health hazard for such a large volume of people. New viral strains of COVID make it easily transmissible and not having any regulations for thousands of people will further propagate this transmission. Unfortunately, even though it would be nice, the pandemic is not over so please be considerate to your fans, creators, and staff members, especially those that are immunocompromised or at high risk. Thank you!

SDCC was recently held at the same location and had mask/vax/test policies in place. Many cons have had these requirements. Hoping that Twitch sees the importance of protecting people at the convention should be top priority.

California is the global epicenter of COVID-19, with over 50,000 new cases documented in the last 90 days alone. Allowing TwitchCon to continue on as if this is not the case is negligence that will result in the infection of countless individuals and therefore the deaths of many. Requiring a face covering is the absolute bare minimum.
