Mask Requirement for TwitchCon
After the surge of COVID cases after TwitchCon EU it was incredibly surprising to see the lack of mask policy for the event and makes many of us incredibly concerned about TwitchCon NA. Many other cons that have gone without a mask policy have only exacerbated the COVID cases where cons like PAX East, West etc have had much lower cases by having a strict mask policy.
We hear you and take these concerns seriously. In response to all of your feedback, we are updating our TwitchCon policies to require masks, as well as either proof of vaccination or a negative covid test. We will continue to review our health and safety guidelines along with local authorities in order to keep our community safe IRL at TwitchCon San Diego. Thank you for making your voice heard. More info is available here.

california is facing CONSTANT surges in covid-19 hospitalizations, it's inconsiderate to your attendees and to the general public to hold an indoor event with no restrictions at all. bad calls all around, at bare minimum care a little bit

If there isnt a mask req at the least i will not formally be going to the convention... also this seems out of line with local requirements.
Please reconsider

Please learn based on the severity of COVID cases at TC Amsterdam.
Also, learn from the success from the recent Comic Con requiring masking and a vaccination card or negative test result.
Not only this, but enforcing these rules would make the majority of people that want to attend a Lot safer. I say people that "want to attend" and not those that are going because Not enforcing masks is making too many people decide to not go or, at most, get a 1-day pass and that's it.
Make the right choice for both our safety and for the success of this con. -

This is unacceptable, complete and utter disregard for the vulnerable creators on Twitch. Masks and vaccines should be enforced at EVERY convention and public event.

I don't really care about a mask mandate for this event in particular. But I DEEPLY care about there being a vaccine requirement at a BARE MINIMUM.

I'm disappointed in the decision to not require masks at TwitchCon. Yes the pandemic is not nearly as prevalent as before, but San Diego is currently experiencing a spike in their covid numbers. A mask mandate should be enforced for this event, for the safety of all involved. I know I will not be attending or encouraging my community to go, so long as this current stance, Twitch has for their event, remains. Masks are a must.

This is extremely irresponsible after seeing most of the streamers I follow who attended Twitchcon EU come down with COVID-19. I never planned on attending because I don't consider large gatherings safe at the moment, but you've removed any precautions that would've made someone like me feel safe.

Make mask and vaccines mandatory!

The guidance is disappointing and disheartening. I hope Twitch reconsiders to help keep both the community and organizers safe.

I was looking forward to meeting some Twitch friends in San Diego, but with this announcement I think staying the heck away from that town is a better idea.

Mask AND Vaccination requirements sohuld be implemented. Twitch really showing how little they care about their community lmao

Mask requirements should be the absolute bare minimum for an event like this. I really hope Twitch reconsiders their position to keep attendees and staff as safe as possible.

Mask AND Vaccination requirements. Keep your guests and staff both safe! Don't be another one of the reasons this pandemic extends.

I know we want the pandemic to be over, but it isn't. Variants are running rampant and people are still getting sick. It's not as bad as it was, but it's still not great. SDCC did it, so can you guys.

Considering what SDCC did, TwitchCon organizers should be embarrassed to start things out this way. Even if they change policy now, I'm going to be skeptical things will be enforced. Broken trust.

I will NEVER consider attending Twitchcon as long as there are not mask mandates in place

Not only do I believe TwitchCon needs to implement a mask mandate, but additionally they should require proof of vaccination. The spread of COVID-19 during TwitchCon EU was far too large, and the change of at LEAST a mask mandate (and hopefully a requirement of vaccination) can help stop the same amount of spread during TwitchCon NA.

Please have a vaccination requirement, thank you

JumpForJ0y commented
Yes. absolutely, please have a strict mask policy. Proof of vaccination would be very nice too.

Following the current city guidelines shouldn't be the baseline when San Diego has such high covid rates, and Twitch at the very least should require the guests to be vaccinated. For the health of the event goers, the special guests, and the worker- everyone deserves to have a fun time without worrying they'll get sick. In tumultuous times like right now, covid still needs to be treated seriously for the long-term effects it has people's health. Twitchcon Sandiego should 100% require people to have their vaccination cards and have to take covid tests before the event, as well as be required to wear masks.
