Mask Requirement for TwitchCon
After the surge of COVID cases after TwitchCon EU it was incredibly surprising to see the lack of mask policy for the event and makes many of us incredibly concerned about TwitchCon NA. Many other cons that have gone without a mask policy have only exacerbated the COVID cases where cons like PAX East, West etc have had much lower cases by having a strict mask policy.
We hear you and take these concerns seriously. In response to all of your feedback, we are updating our TwitchCon policies to require masks, as well as either proof of vaccination or a negative covid test. We will continue to review our health and safety guidelines along with local authorities in order to keep our community safe IRL at TwitchCon San Diego. Thank you for making your voice heard. More info is available here.

Please consider mandating vaccinations for attendees. In that case, masks could be optional. However, if a vaccine mandate is not something you are willing to impose, I implore you to at LEAST require masks. COVID is not over yet and large conventions like TwitchCon are breeding grounds for sickness.

San Diego Comic Con just had a mandatory mask mandate plus vaccine/test requirements and still had well over 100,000 attendees. With the new state of emergency in CA for monkeypox, and SD county saying it will likely follow state guidelines, I think it's irresponsible to not require basic pandemic safety procedures and am genuinely worried to attend.

Twitch, you guys didn't learn anything from Amsterdam, right?

Luckily I did not catch COVID at TwitchCon EU but I had 10 different friends whom I was in contact with message me and tell me they got COVID. While it's not going to be fully preventable it would be nice to see Twitch take precautions that helps minimize the risks atleast.

I honestly am reconsidering ever attending a Twitch event again after the decision to not require masks and/or covid testing. Making everyone feel safe, INCLUDING those who are immunocompromised should be Twitch's number one priority.

I would hope that Twitch reconsiders this stance as it could become a public health disaster and makes the event inaccessible and dangerous for those whom are immunocompromised. Safety for all participants doesn't feel like a priority, which is rather concerning. I am certain the goal is to make TwitchCon fun, but the financial and medical impact of returning home with COVID is exactly the opposite of that. I know policy enforcement may be part of the challenge, but the pandemic is still ongoing. I understand that summertime is a challenge for masking, but with an airborne pathogen like COVID, something genuinely should be in place, especially with cramped event halls, meet and greet events and long queues. Thank you.

In building community, we want to encourage safe connections and support not a possible hospitalization. We love our communities and want the best for them and this decision shows the community does not come first. Please consider using masks and cleaning options -- PAX has great health and guidelines to model after to ensure a great event for the attendees of this event.

Set an example, don't be an embarrassment. Follow the same guidelines used by SDCC. Mask mandate AND either proof of vaccine or recent negative test.

We literally wouldn't have Twitch if not for science.
Listen to science and stop taking this **** for granted.

Please enforce a mask policy. Vaccination records. Negative tests. ANYTHING over what you have in place right now. I would prefer to safely meet my friends and community than put them at risk.

If there are no Covid risk management policies Twitchcon could be the cause of many, many people getting very sick.

It is really disappointing that Twitch is ignoring the reality of COVID and Monkeypox. If people get sick and die then it’s on y’all.

Yeah yall should really have a mask policy and make sure it is enforced.

Protect the community. Require masks while at the Con and proof of vaccination or negative test to pickup badges.

Masks, vaccine, and testing requirements are literally the bare minimum. Its absolutely shameful that Twitch would subject marginalized communities (who make up most service workers) to bear the brunt of this disastrous lack of health and safety policies. I won't be attending unless they reinstitute the BARE MINIMUM HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY.

PLEASE have a mask requirement. it’s basic safety. if you’re not going to limit attendance then mandate masks

Please require Masks and vax verifications. There's a new wave and Monkeypox. This is so careless and risky.

Amazing how y'all @ TwitchCon value the handful who WOULD CHOOSE not attend over the many who literally CANNOT attend because of your lax measures with your present policy on masking and vaccinations.
