Mask Requirement for TwitchCon
After the surge of COVID cases after TwitchCon EU it was incredibly surprising to see the lack of mask policy for the event and makes many of us incredibly concerned about TwitchCon NA. Many other cons that have gone without a mask policy have only exacerbated the COVID cases where cons like PAX East, West etc have had much lower cases by having a strict mask policy.
We hear you and take these concerns seriously. In response to all of your feedback, we are updating our TwitchCon policies to require masks, as well as either proof of vaccination or a negative covid test. We will continue to review our health and safety guidelines along with local authorities in order to keep our community safe IRL at TwitchCon San Diego. Thank you for making your voice heard. More info is available here.

Put in a bloody mask requirement! For crying out loud, sticking your head in the ground and pretending Covid no longer exists is NOT going to help!

How the heck does this even have to be voted on?

The decision to not enforce protections against COVID and monkeypox was a shocking and disappointing announcement. It is very clear we are not out of a pandemic yet, so if a convention is being held they should want to do everything in their power to keep their attendees safe. This outs a further damper on my trust in Twitch's care for its creators and viewers, and I urge them to reconsider.

There should absolutely be a requirement for masks at the bare minimum. Covid is not gone, people are still being disabled and are still dying from it. Congregating that many people with a disease that spreads through water droplets and is still rampaging throughout the world is irresponsible.

The fact that Twtich can't even deliver on the BARE MINIMUM that is a negative test to enter the con blows my mind. Ya'll are willing to put your guests, attendees and staff at risk for what???

So TwitchCon just wants to be a petri dish of MonkeyRona then...We are STILL in a pandemic. The least you can do is protect your creators (since you dont pay them enough in a pay out). Encouraging them, should mean requiring them to help keep others as safe as possible.

If masks are "encouraged", if we're still in that state, it should be required.

its 2022. their is multiple versions of the covid vax and supply. their should be NO REASON to reduce covid restrictions. we are nearing the end of the pandemic. not having these restrictions only continues the **** pandemic.
your Staff is going to be at the con. if twitch "cares about communities." you wouldn't want to put increased risks to your employees while at the con. -

Local guidelines were made for the sake of the general public, not hundreds or thousands of people all going to a super crowded building and meeting some people who are coming in close contact with the dozens (if not hundreds) of people who they are gonna take pictures with on the street and hug and talk without social distancing at meet and greets and through out the convention.
If anything, masks should at least be enforced in lines to panels and meet and greets where people are in close contact for long periods of time, and possibly mandatory negative covid test and vaccinatiom for meet and greets.
Remember, the event is not accessible if disabled people cannot attend without risking hospitalization.

I agree with Twitch taking local guidelines. No masks or requirements to enter.

"It's just that masks are terribly comfortable -- I think everyone will be wearing them in the future," said Westley, presciently.

Wear a Mask !!! & u should be vaxxed. It’s sexxy ! I disagree that earlier this year they removed proof of vaxx requirement from almost everywhere that actually had it in place. But then I’m the “fascist one ?!? … ummm, I’m the immunocompromised ! You are the selfish & the ignorant. Try Science now available in BA.5 in L.A., coming to San Diego, everywhere, soon.

the pandemic is still very much ongoing, with new variants that are more transmissable than before. for the safety of EVERYONE attending, especially your staff, you should at the bare minimum require masking inside the con.

ask for masks ask for vaxx

A lack of masking requirements, vaccination checks, or negative test requirements names me think less of Twitch as a brand. At least pretend to care about your customers.

The back and forth I'm seeing in the comments is "But I don't want to wear a mask, don't make me!" on the side of being anti-mask, and "I am immuno-compromised and cannot be stuck in a place that has no mask or vaccination regulations in place" on the side of people being pro-mask. I just find that interesting.

Negative COVID test within the last 24hrs or be vaccinated as well. Keep the community safe.

Require vaccination proof or neg test results within 72 hours for those that can't get the vaccine. Do your part and be responsible. Let's not repeat Amsterdam!
