End Twitch's Partnership With Chevron

Twitch needs to end its partnership at Twitchcon with Chevron.

Chevron is guilty of many international crimes stemming from its involvement in environmental disasters across South America and Africa, and also it's deep investment in and complicity with the Palestinian genocide happening in Gaza and across the Middle East.

From: https://afsc.org/chevron-fuels-israeli-apartheid-and-war-crimes

"Chevron is one of the world’s largest fossil fuel companies. By 2017, the company was responsible for approximately 3.2% of the world’s total emissions.

Chevron has yet to clean up the 16 billion gallons of toxic wastewater it deliberately dumped into Ecuador’s Amazon Rainforest between 1964 and 1990, which poisoned the lands and waters of indigenous and rural Ecuadorians in what is considered the world’s largest oil-related catastrophe.

The company has also not cleaned up pollution it left behind in the ***** Delta, which decimated the region’s ecosystem and devastated indigenous groups’ waterways, food systems, and livelihoods.

In 2021, the Chevron refinery in Richmond, California, spilled an estimated 600 gallons of oil into the San Francisco Bay, posing life-threatening contamination and exposure risks to local communities."

"Chevron operates and partially owns the largest Israeli natural gas fields, Tamar and Leviathan.

These gas fields are located in the eastern Mediterranean sea, west of Haifa. The gas from Tamar is processed in a rig that is located farther south, off the coast of Isdud/Ashdod.

Chevron also operates and partially owns the East Mediterranean Gas (EMG) Pipeline, which runs from Israel to Egypt, off the shores of the Gaza Strip."

For Twitch to truly represent the values of the community within it, it must choose partnerships and sponsorships more wisely. This begins with ending it's association with Chevron, a company that directly threatens the livelihoods of every life on Earth with it's environmental destruction and direct benefitting from wars.

Be more righteous to attract more users, they'd be praised more if they stopped obsessing over their own security and stood on the side of justice. People are getting tired of massive companies, corporations, whatever entities that take and take from the consumer and then treat them and the world like garbage. Being complicit in mass murder is not a good look for them and if they continue to resist change, their foundation will crumble under growth and evolution. Free Palestine 🇵🇸

Please drop Chevron from Twitchcon’s sponsors. Chevron is the largest owner of natural gas in Palestine and has done immense environmental destruction. We don’t need them! We want better sponsors.

War and destruction of our ecosystems are among the greatest dangers to our world. So profiting from war and environmental degradation the way that Chevron does are among the worst crimes.

I've loved and supported twitch, its creators, and its users for years. It would mean a lot to me to be able to continue supporting the twitch platform while knowing it doesn't partner with companies like Chevron.
