Mask Requirement for TwitchCon
After the surge of COVID cases after TwitchCon EU it was incredibly surprising to see the lack of mask policy for the event and makes many of us incredibly concerned about TwitchCon NA. Many other cons that have gone without a mask policy have only exacerbated the COVID cases where cons like PAX East, West etc have had much lower cases by having a strict mask policy.

We hear you and take these concerns seriously. In response to all of your feedback, we are updating our TwitchCon policies to require masks, as well as either proof of vaccination or a negative covid test. We will continue to review our health and safety guidelines along with local authorities in order to keep our community safe IRL at TwitchCon San Diego. Thank you for making your voice heard. More info is available here.

That this survey even has to be created is an indictment of every executive in Twitch leadership.

I support not only a mask requirement, but also proof of vaccination/booster. There are far too many instances of large-scale events where everyone goes, has a great time, and then comes back sick with COVID. Not having these requirements in place pushes out popular streamers who would have otherwise been able to attend, but now must reconsider because of their increased sensitivity to contracting diseases. Please re-consider the mask and vaccine requirements.

Require masks.

Preventative measures work, and they can truly help reduce the spread and save lives. I’ve recently been to events both with and without preventative measures, and have personally seen COVID spread like wildfire at the events without preventative measures. It’s how I ended up getting COVID for the first time during the entire pandemic, despite my efforts being masked up and boosted. While it’s still possible to get COVID-19 at events with preventative measures, it would be so much better to have those measures in place—especially given the way the pandemic is evolving now.
There are real people with real stories attending TwitchCon. Do you want the stories to be about the incredible memories made at TwitchCon, or do you want the stories to be about the newest COVID-19 infection and how someone was hospitalized at your event? Show us that you care about your community; put some protective measurements in place.

Just do the right thing and at the very least ask for masks. The userbase that will be attending this event are the ones that would want these rules to be in place. Not like you guys are hosting some republican convention.

With the constant spread of new variants and given the number of people who tested positive after TC Amsterdam, this is grossly irresponsible. Why anyone would attend what will undoubtedly become a superspreader event is absolutely beyond me, I know I certainly won't be under these conditions. Twitch I implore you to please consider changing the policy to require masks, vaccines and testing.

Garbage decision to not require vaccinations and masks. No con worth going to ever does this. Magfest only had 50 confirmed cases out of 10k attendees.

I think it’s incredibly irresponsible for such a LARGE and IN PERSON event to not require any sort of safety measures while we are still in a pandemic AND monkey pox is on the rise.

I feel the choice of Twitch not requiring Vax or Mask is a poor choice. Look at Anime Expo, SDCC, the upcoming PAX West, recent PAX East, upcoming PAX Unplugged, and some other conventions. They are requiring both.
Other events have had much lower cases by having a strict mask policy along with some asking for at least two shots. TwitchCon EU itself had a surge of cases, which is NOT a good look. Please take time and care about your streamers and public.

Conventions are fraught even with strict vaccine and mask requirements, as there's no way to enforce them in the various bars, hotels, and other spaces attendees will be at throughout the show. It really should be the bare minimum that a mask and vaccine mandate be in place so at least the convention floor itself can be less dangerous.

Very surprised twitch isn’t requiring masks or proof of vaccination/negative Covid tests for such a large event. It’s the least they could do to protect creators, fans, and staff working the event

Vax and mask should be the bare minimum level of protection. Anything less is irresponsible at best.

I wanted to add a comment to emphasize how important health precautions are. If we all are a big twitch family, if we all bleed purple, we should all be willing to mask up and vaccinate

It really shouldn't be a big ask at this point, after all of the case spikes from recklessly returning to "normal." Mask requirements need to be a minimum for Twitchcon. Don't let a gathering of creators turn into another mournful statistic, Twitch.

Vax and mask should be the bare minimum. You need to care about your customers and creators.

Not requiring masks as a bare minimum preventative measure is ridiculous and dangerous.

Not even doing the bare minimum of a mask mandate? After the mess of an outbreak at TCEU?
Questionable decisions Twitch.

At minimum, please instate a mask requirement for the event. Preferably I would have a mask requirement and vaccine mandate as well.

kind of outrageous to not be requiring masks at the point we’re at. ba5 is one of the most contagious variants. it’s flat out negligent to not be doing your part to make sure your attendees are safe.
