I agree here. When you have more than 5 artists, having to pick and choose which artists get a badge and which do not is rather unfair. I imagine it probably leads to *no one* getting the badge to avoid awkwardness or hurt feelings in a lot of cases.
For example many channels have more than 1 emote artist so it's conceivable that they could use up their artist badges *just* on their emote artist friends, and that's before even considering the model artists, overlay artists, prop artists, riggers, editors, musicians who compose channel theme music, discord reactive pngs for on-stream group calls, and more.
As an aside, like DrJones007 said in another comment there is also room for more creative badge types. Twitch recently added the 'weekly top clips' banner at the top of the chat alongside the weekly top gift subs and bit donations; there could be a clipper badge that a streamer could hand out to incentivize more active clipping. That is to say there are other synergies that could be tied into an expanded artist badge system that Twitch may want to consider.

Hi, thanks for flagging this and sharing your suggestion.
We share and understand your concerns about how the intentional, repeated misuse of tags can undermine the purpose of the tags product itself. Tags are an important discoverability feature for communities, and a powerful way for all Creators—but especially those that are underrepresented—to express their personal identity and creative vision for their content.
We also do not feel Twitch should be the judge of Creators’ personal or creative identity, so we typically only enforce against the misuse of tags when it is associated with other behavior that violates our Community Guidelines such as hateful conduct or harassment.
That said, as the VTuber community’s experience demonstrates, there are limitations to this approach and we are actively investigating additional steps we can take to protect and improve the integrity of the tags feature at scale, without infringing on good faith Creators’ personal choice…

If I had to guess, this layout change is probably an A/B test to see if they can increase channel follow conversions or retention, but it doesn't really seem like it will make a difference that will rise above statistical noise, while it comes with the drawback of breaking things.

Really? AGAIN, Twitch? Stop being so contemptuously lazy. We don't want this. Nobody asked for this. Could you maybe not take active steps to make things worse? Change them back, or pay someone competent to design new ones if you must insist on replacing the old ones.
