We have heard the feedback in this idea & its comments and reworked chat replies to reduce noise. By allowing users to reply directly to a specific message in a thread, only the user being responded to will be @'ed, rather than the user whose comment initiated the thread. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

I would love to turn it off. I actually hate that it tags the original comment on every message, it even does that on mobile but mobile actually doesn't have the thread so it's just EVEN MORE confusing. A simple reply to one message with no threading would be much better imo. Now I see the pros of the thread for busier chats, so the feature can certainly still have a spot, but I still want it off of at least my channel, I think it's not worth it in its current state. I actually actively avoid using it anywhere I go even if someone used it to reply to me, because it kills the thread and keeps it not confusing.

Yes, please talk to us Twitch, we can help, we love the community on the platform and also want the experience to be improved. Keyword is improved. We don't know anything about your studies, we're just dumped drastic feature changes out of nowhere, we have no time to get familiar with them, we have no opportunity to voice any concerns whatsoever, it's just "boom, done!" and then we're left screaming into a void on this joke of a feedback platform that seems to be completely ignored

Ye we need 20, not 10. And a lot of the tags just shouldn't count against the content limit and instead be attached to the channel as a more permanent thing

I would LOVE to use any of the new tags, but I actually already wanted to put more tags and couldn't because I think identifying this particular content is more important since it does change more and people could read my bio for other things or just get to know me. But identity and accessibility tags are actually something that usually doesn't change and is very useful for community discovery. I actually think the tag limit on streams should be 20, not 5 and still have the identity and accessibility tags separate from that. Like tags that label the channel itself, not the particular content.

I still think the reply feature is non-functional. Not only it still tags the original comment of the thread every time which is extremely bad, but also literally any remotely active chat renders your ability to see anyone replying past the first reply impossible whereas just tagging the person is more effective.
On mobile it’s even worse because the feature just isn’t there, it literally just looks like a normal tag on the original comment of the thread and you can’t check the thread.
I would actually raise the bar higher than allowing to disable it in my own chat, but also just prevent anyone from using the feature on any of my messages period. Either that or you make it functional on all platforms and no longer tagging the original message but rather the actual message you clicked on. It could still make a thread but it needs to be clear who’s replying to what within that thread, otherwise just don’t make a thread.
