Hi, thanks for flagging this and sharing your suggestion.
We share and understand your concerns about how the intentional, repeated misuse of tags can undermine the purpose of the tags product itself. Tags are an important discoverability feature for communities, and a powerful way for all Creators—but especially those that are underrepresented—to express their personal identity and creative vision for their content.
We also do not feel Twitch should be the judge of Creators’ personal or creative identity, so we typically only enforce against the misuse of tags when it is associated with other behavior that violates our Community Guidelines such as hateful conduct or harassment.
That said, as the VTuber community’s experience demonstrates, there are limitations to this approach and we are actively investigating additional steps we can take to protect and improve the integrity of the tags feature at scale, without infringing on good faith Creators’ personal choice…

i understand your point, but talking bad about any country or towards any people from a country, is considered harassment and is against ToS aswell as bordering racism.
The context from any other person in chat would be offense caused by hearing their country or their people being talked about in a bad negative way.
Perhaps it would have been wiser for the person in question to say "i don't like ____ things that happened in ___ country" instead of smearing the country or all of its people as a whole.
Anyone who hear's their country being trash talked or spoken about in a negative way has every right to report the account for racism, or inciting any kind of hate or hostility towards a country. Even the mere mention of another country in a bad way, or saying things that get people against a country, is seen as racism.
i'm not taking sides, i'm just saying if a country is been seen as "bad" by many people, or the media paint a negative picture about a country, that doesnt give people the right to be racist or openly speak negatively on twitch about said country. Regardless of which side is good or bad or whatever the case, racism is'nt meant to be tolerated against either side.
i'm not giving any personal bias or prefferences here. Maybe there are other websites where one can feel the need to express their thoughts? i no thats not nice to say, but twitch isnt the place for expressing race/country related views.
The problem here was not just what was being said, but that someone in chat was there to withness what was being said, exposed to it and supposedly took offense. These days anyone can claim to be offended regardless of whether they are or not. Maybe broadcasting the views publicly was'nt the best thing?
Maybe i'm over-reacting and missing the point idk.
For anyone that wants to talk about what happened, or fill me in on any of the blanks im missing, can feel free to whisper me on twitch about it.
As i said, i'm not here to take sides, i'm just trying to view it from twitches point of view and their policy, in hopes of providing readers with more clarity on this.
