Scraping audio and visuals from live streams and vods for training AIGeneration is an extreme breach of copyright against your creators. Not only that but it sows distrust among your creatives and will cost both Twitch and Amazon so much that Twitch may have to shut down as a result. No one wants this.

This latest move, especially after the flack Twitch has received from the CatInTheChat and other AIGen emotes, sickens me to my very core. I already made a promise to myself that I would never buy Twitch subs and bits again due to Twitch’s horrible mismanagement, false suspensions/bans against vtubers, and for what Twitch staff did to DokiBird during the Twitch Rivals tournament of 2024. This latest move has me seriously considering never streaming on Twitch again. Even if I continue streaming on this platform, I will be strictly prioritizing off platform monetization via Patreon and other non-Twitch affiliated platforms. The prices Twitch has set for the basic Tier1 sub, on top of Twitch’s constant insults to their user base’s intelligence, are completely asinine with what little Twitch provides the streamer community that is not in the top 1%.

Twitch, whether you know this or not, you still need us smaller streamers. While you may be getting hundreds of thousands, millions even, from the top streamers on your platform, all of the smaller streamers combined provide you with equal or greater revenue. There’s a vast majority of us not in the partner program, and even many who are, that are disgusted by your blatant disrespect of creators and those who worked so hard to make your platform last as long as it has. If you choose to keep going down this route, you will lose all of our support entirely and we will migrate elsewhere. Just like many people left X (formerly Twitter) to move to Bluesky and made Bluesky as successful as they are at this current moment, we will do the same to you once the next best option pops up. Things are already rocky and we all know all too well that Twitch hasn’t been able to pull themselves out of the negatives for some time. Imagine what it would be like when everyone’s gone and how fast the already negative profits will plummet beyond return.

What will it be, Twitch? Remove the AIGen emotes, as well as the AIGen category thumbnails, and start providing the bare minimum services that you promised your creators. Or keep screwing us creators over, resulting in a vast majority of us to leave and build up a direct competitor, causing your business to perish.

As a small VTuber myself, nothing gives me as much discouragement from streaming quite like how Twitch Staff moderate their site. All of us Virtual streamers feel like we are put under a microscope and have the book thrown at us at the slightest of wrong doing, some of us are just straight up banned with false accusations from Twitch Staff themselves. Our channels getting permanently banned a vast majority of the time as a result. Mean while regular streamers are free to use slurs, sexually harass, send death threats, send hate mobs, and just straight up make **** live on Twitch. The worst they'll ever get is a slap on the wrist with anywhere between a 12 hour and 1 week ban.

How can Twitch Staff claim to treat everyone fairly when we see you all do this to us every single day all day long? We can see past your lies and say with our full chests that Twitch Staff actively discriminates against VTubers as a whole and are trying to push us off the platform. You're all just too cowardly to admit it yourselves.

    Twitch responded

Hi, thanks for flagging this and sharing your suggestion.

We share and understand your concerns about how the intentional, repeated misuse of tags can undermine the purpose of the tags product itself.  Tags are an important discoverability feature for communities, and a powerful way for all Creators—but especially those that are underrepresented—to express their personal identity and creative vision for their content.

We also do not feel Twitch should be the judge of Creators’ personal or creative identity, so we typically only enforce against the misuse of tags when it is associated with other behavior that violates our Community Guidelines such as hateful conduct or harassment.

That said, as the VTuber community’s experience demonstrates, there are limitations to this approach and we are actively investigating additional steps we can take to protect and improve the integrity of the tags feature at scale, without infringing on good faith Creators’ personal choice…

It is deeply upsetting how the higher ups in the Twitch community constantly test the boundaries of the TOS system and often times break TOS. What is equally upsetting is Twitch's willingness to openly ignore it but then stomp out anyone else with a much smaller following for the exact same thing. As time goes on it is more and more obvious that Twitch is going the same route as YouTube and becoming a platform that it's users are starting to hate because the lack of equal and fair enforcement.

If Twitch cared at all about us and the future of their platform they will act immediately and start punishing those who abuse the tags. Same with punishing creators of bot/hate raids because sadly they are very much still a thing today. Let us not forget that it took the community, not Twitch, to create solutions for the raids. If not for SeryCodes, Twitch would be a much more difficult and dark place to stream. Twitch didn't act until community members identified who was behind the creation of the hate bots! Something that Twitch should have been able to do just as easily! Twitch is lazy and will not act until their platform is threatened!

If you, Twitch, want us to view you at all differently... Make the changes we the community need!
