Setting this to a partial release status as the majority of ads on web and TV apps should now have normalized sound. We are still continuing the work on this and will update the status again when it is fully complete!

This is really critical particularly for a gaming-oriented platform where people are using headphones, and also for rise in ASMR content that is headphone-oriented (talking about the quality sound-oriented ASMR not the 'thot on a bed' stuff). Last thing you need is to have headphones on and have some sudden high decibel blast from a hyperkinetic ad blowing out your ears. Fix it, please.

Just wanted to update this thread that we are doing an experiment right now with Stream Display Ads! These are less disruptive ads that allow viewers to see and hear Creators while being displayed. Creators will receive ad revenue for each SDA shown. You can find out more information here: https://twitter.com/TwitchSupport/status/1603148201489580032

PLEASE get something done about this, this problem has persisted for years. The ******* "Hemlibra" ad for some hemophilia drug is currently the worst offender, I'll be listening to a stream at normal volume on headphones and if that obnoxious monster of an ad starts I literally have to yank them off to avoid ear damage.
GET THIS UNDER CONTROL.
