Hey all! Thanks for this thread. We recently deprecated anonymous Cheering after we discovered it was being abused. While we understand some viewers prefer not being recognized for Cheering, we made this change to ensure a safer experience for those who were negatively impacted.
We’ve also heard your concerns on what this means for the future of Bits. This deprecation is not related to any plans to limit Cheering with Bits on Twitch, and is solely focused on providing a safer experience for our community.

An error occurred while saving the comment SeryCodes commentedLooks cool! I'd love to see how far streamers can take a Cue Manager system like that. AI-driven cues like this are a great addition, but expanding it to manual cues would be cool!
An error occurred while saving the comment SeryCodes commentedMuch like Follow Cues, expand the feature to allow for manual cues! Let the streamer set up manual cues for themselves (optionally moderators too!).
For example, a manual cue to hydrate every 20 minutes (streamer only), or 15 minute timer to remind chat about a charity drive (streamer + mods).
Excited to see how far cues like that can go.

An error occurred while saving the comment SeryCodes commentedI heard the reasoning on the dev stream today for broadcaster tokens. I understand the broadcaster only reasoning now (privacy and control who can pull that list programmatically).
However, I'd ask to allow your channel moderators access to VIPs and mods programmatically as well.
The two new followers endpoints were announced today to "to bring feature parity with first party and third party." It was also mentioned that these will require a moderator scope, which implies that moderators will be able to fetch followers.
If we're talking about feature parity, then removing the broadcaster requirement for VIPs and mods make sense, since anyone can fetch that information first party. However, a good compromise would be to allow moderators access to this information with a moderator-scoped token, same as the upcoming follow endpoints.
I can already do what I need with my use case, as I have the scopes and broadcaster tokens already. However, simply from a feature parity standpoint, it'd make sense to remove the broadcaster token requirement.
That being said, thank you for providing the reasoning behind a broadcaster token.
An error occurred while saving the comment SeryCodes commentedThis is necessary IMO to move away from IRC-based /mods and /vips. It’s a little ridiculous to need a broadcaster token to get that info, when any registered user can simply type /mods or /vips in Twitch chat.

Make it a configurable choice then to allow anonymous bits or not.
And be more open about your plans to deprecate bits or not. That sentence just added more fire to the rumor mill.
