Restricting the user should work like Shadow Ban, if the moderation thinks he is probably a troll
For example, usually when the user follows with a dubious nickname, most of the times the guy is going to troll, but sometimes is just a good guy with a "funny" nick.
We want to test if the guy is going to troll or not so we can ban him or free him in a safe way without the chat seeing what he said.
The monitored guy SHOULD NOT know he is blocked.
If he types anything and the chat says: Your message could not be sent due moderation settings, it ruins any further investigation we (mods) are doing to make sure he is a troll or a good guy.

When the streamer timeouts the mod/editor (some streams have timeout on mod as channel points redeem) the editor is removed, but the editor checkmark still is checked on the Roles page.
I think it should be an option to not remove mod/editor on timeout.

Would be nice if twitch had some way to subscribe on beta testing the new features, I would even reply forms about what I think.

We recently announced the upcoming launch of the Twitch Discovery Feed: a scrollable feed in the Twitch app that shows users a personalized mix of Clips.
Before that launch happens, we’ll be running experiments with limited versions of the Discovery Feed to help test and improve our algorithms plus the overall experience. These early experiments do not reflect the final design or experience of the Discovery Feed.
We'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions on how to improve this experience as we build towards the bigger launch. Feedback can be left via https://link.twitch.tv/UVDiscoveryFeed - thank you!

Renaming the user doesn't unban the user, but certainly causes confusion with the moderation team if he asks for a unban and the reason was the trolling nickname which some of the channels I mod for is against their rules.
Because ALWAYS instead of being honest saying "sorry I used a nickname XYZ which was against the chat rules but now I changed my nick", they just say "I did nothing to be banned".
PS. Yeah, our moderation team uses the mod comments on card to mark the ofensive/trolling nickname now. But some legacy changed nick users from before unban was a thing so once in a while still shows up.

Thinking on what Elle and Hoops said. I think the better would be twitch giving a 3 months timespam to see the previous username of an given account which had been changed the nickname previously, and on the first time someone say something on chat. Like the first user message alert they implemented a while ago. It could something like that. "Say hi again to TwitchFan123, formely KappaFan2014"

We would like to offer an “off-duty mode” for Mods, but it isn’t one of our top priorities at the moment. Will revisit in 2021.

Do you want any idea for the offduty badge? Just change it to VIP icon with green square.

That would never happen. FFZ and BTTV are extensions that allows users to have emotes for free, and Twitch economy is based by earning money by selling subs with emotes from the subs.

We would definitely like to give Mods a way to communicate with each other more easily, and are starting to explore implementation options.

This is way more viable if the streamer create a chat command for mods only to redeem a sound using streamelements rather hoping this to be a twitch feature itself because even if twitch implements it, it would still depends on the streamer side to put the alert on their OBS side.
The streamer can create a request on streamelements store with a sound to alert him/her redeemable only with chat (example "bell") and a command for mods only like $(redeem bell) and is done!
