The concern about ad frequency on Twitch is understandable, especially when interruptions affect the overall viewing experience. It would be useful to consider ad formats and frequency that balance viewer experience with sustainable monetization for creators.

A global emote like this could be a fun addition to Twitch, especially if it gives viewers a simple way to react across different communities. It would be interesting to see how the idea could fit with Twitch’s existing emote style and whether streamers and viewers would actually use it regularly.

Just wanted to update this thread that we are doing an experiment right now with Stream Display Ads! These are less disruptive ads that allow viewers to see and hear Creators while being displayed. Creators will receive ad revenue for each SDA shown. You can find out more information here: https://twitter.com/TwitchSupport/status/1603148201489580032

Blocking or interrupting the video stream with ads can have a noticeable impact on the viewing experience, especially during important parts of a broadcast. It would be useful to consider less disruptive ad formats while still giving creators and Twitch a sustainable way to monetize content.

The suggestion to use banner ads instead of unexpected mid-roll interruptions raises an interesting point about the viewing experience. It would be useful to consider how different ad formats affect both viewer engagement and the ability of creators to monetize their streams.

Requiring a phone number when setting up 2FA can be inconvenient for users who prefer authentication apps or other security methods. It would be useful to consider supporting multiple verification options so users can secure their accounts without depending on SMS-based verification.

The connection between Twitch and Shopify could be interesting for creators who want to turn their audience into an ecommerce opportunity. It would be useful to discuss how product discovery, storefront integration, payments, and creator-focused features could work together without making the viewing experience feel disruptive.
The balance between advertising and viewer experience is an important topic for Twitch. Too many interruptions can make streams less enjoyable, so it would be useful to explore ad frequency, timing, and less disruptive formats while still allowing creators to earn revenue from their content.
