I'm not surprised that Twitch didn't take it seriously. They only seem to take things seriously if it risks losing them money. Either way, what was done is abhorrent, as is the failure of Twitch to do anything meaningful in response.

Good job on completely ignoring our concerns and failing to take action.
These changes are still worded intentionally vaguely, and will be weaponised as this petition states.
Your failure to even attempt to fix this issue will not be forgotten, and failure to act on it now will likely result in a mass exodus of LGBTQ+ streamers.

Hi, thanks for flagging this and sharing your suggestion.
We share and understand your concerns about how the intentional, repeated misuse of tags can undermine the purpose of the tags product itself. Tags are an important discoverability feature for communities, and a powerful way for all Creators—but especially those that are underrepresented—to express their personal identity and creative vision for their content.
We also do not feel Twitch should be the judge of Creators’ personal or creative identity, so we typically only enforce against the misuse of tags when it is associated with other behavior that violates our Community Guidelines such as hateful conduct or harassment.
That said, as the VTuber community’s experience demonstrates, there are limitations to this approach and we are actively investigating additional steps we can take to protect and improve the integrity of the tags feature at scale, without infringing on good faith Creators’ personal choice…
As before, generative AI slop is optically a moronic idea for a major company like Twitch to even consider using. Especially with the existence of the Twitch Artists Guild or whatever it's called.
Generative AI content shows that Twitch doesn't care about users or appearances, only cutting costs. Given community backlash over decisions every few months, the decision to update categories to generative imagery was stupid at best, and self-sabotage at worst.
Do better.
