On 2/2, we will turn off Chants.
While this feature was popular, we observed negative impacts to minutes watched for significant groups of creators.

I've been waiting for this feature to be rolled out to everyone, as I assumed it would be after a test period. But it's been quite a while. I know there have been other priorities with hate raids and such, but I just wanted to add here that I really enjoy the chant command for the channels I mod for. It's really great for welcoming in raiders, hyping up key moments, or even wishing someone happy birthday. The command is mod only, and as long as the streamer trusts their mods with this power, it should be a safe and fun way to add chat interaction.

I'm really disappointed to see that a popular feature is to be removed because of a negative impact to minutes watched. I'd love to see the data on this, because I find it hard to believe that the chant feature would be the main cause of viewership drops, and that the feature would be blamed instead of the streamer utilizing the tool. I like gernalGEEGA's comment that add some control to chants such as letting the streamer turn them on or off. I also think it would be beneficial for the viewer to also have a toggle for chants on their end, so they don't see the pop up if they don't want to. Simply removing the feature all together seems like a rushed decision considering all the comments I've read here plus my own positive experiences with using chant in the channels I moderate. Can chants be used too aggressively? Sure, but as long as the streamer has full control, it leaves it up to them how and when to use chants. Therefore I don't believe the problem is with the chant feature itself, and I hope Twitch reconsiders removing the feature entirely.
